joker97: bye bye ipad 2. they really want you to buy the ipad air. and once you do that the air 2 will be announced :D

I have it installed on an ipad 2, and initially it was very slow. But it has now sped back up again. Possibily it was doin ga  lot of indexing stuff behind the scenes. I do expect apple to release an update to fix all the problems, as ios7 also had similar problems initially

That's why I tend to wait for the first dot-point update before installing a major OS update. Frankly I just don't trust Apple to get it right first time and some of the feedback in this thread seems to vindicate my view.

I agree, but if you don't mind a slower device initially before the update, then it is probably worth trying the update. Apple wouldn't have allowed it to be updatable if it was unusable, as it would do their brand more harm than good. Also they still sell the ipad mini which is basically the same hardware as the ipad2, but smaller.

Is anyone having issues with the family calendar? I set it up via my 5s and it worked on my wife's 5s but not on her 3rd generation iPad. I haven't read anything saying it won't work on that device.

Not a huge issue but a little annoying non the less.

Well.....
I'm very disappointed with this upgrade on my 5s. Much slower, video playback is stalled, patchy, finding wifi dropping out much easier.
Should have waited...... Dammm

Question:

How can an OS go from 1Gb to 5Gb when it's only really and evolution of the previous? Is is what most people think? A dirty little trick to force people to upgrade to the next device?

Update:

Hmmmm this is rather interesting! I was just going to bookmark geekzone and noticed that I usually just push the button to take me to the process via renaming the page before confirming. But where's that gone?

*sigh*

> 5Gb is the install package+space needed to unzip it+space needed to install it!

> iPad 2/3 was only 609mb required to upgrade through itunes as then it can use your PC to unzip and run the installer.

> iPhone 4S was just LESS than 600mb to upgrade through itunes.

*let your phone do it's "housekeeping"* for a day or so (think defrag) before thinking it's bricked and needs to be thrown...

OR just sell it on (to me) for $50, swear at Apple and get a 6+ like everyone else with lots of 'free' cash will? :D

And another,

I used to have google sitting right up at the top of my bookmarks page so it was the first to access(don't like the a app) Now when I open it up, it's been shoved right down to the bottom in an area called recently used or something.

So how do I bookmark a page now? Sorry but can't seem to work this one out.

In Safari with the Google page loaded, tap the Share button and choose Add to Bookmarks.

Alternatively don't use the Google homepage at all considering you have a unified search/address bar at the top of Safari where you can search from.

I installed iOS8 on my iPad 2 the very morning it was available.
I don't buy into the 'let it defrag' argument in all cases as I've had more time to achieve this than many who upgraded a few days later.

I did a few hard restarts and it was on the whole time.  There was ample 'hard drive' space still and I had actively closed most apps.
Facebook and web browsing via the stock browser was incredibly slow.  Fine once everything had loaded, but slow to start the apps and to action any instruction.

After reverting to 7.1.2 everything has been restored to normal, and I'm enjoying increased speed and reliability over the iOS8 'upgrade'.

As before, my work iPhone 5 is humming along just fine on iOS8.

NikT: Third party keyboards are a killer feature ....

I was really looking forward to SwiftKey on the iPad because I hate the iOS touchscreen cursor adjustment. I'm really sad to see that, unlike the Android version, SwiftKey for iOS has no cursor/arrow keys > fail IMO.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I'm getting awful battery life and lots of lag/stutter on my iPhone 5 with iOS8.

Quite annoying.

Anyone got Family Sharing working properly yet?

Half the apps seem to work, than others say not on this device, and others (even free ones) won't allow download as 'prior downloads from another account / 90 days BS comes up... For FREE apps????

I have found that the time lapse on my Ipad 4 seems to crash the camera app. No other real issues, battery life is still as good as ever and other apps work fine.

I have updated to 8.0.2
