Anyone figured out to get rid +64 27... in sms ? its not reading my changed over contacts.! Aswell as any one experienceing dropped signal or not being able to send messages over xt sometimes??? or is it just me?

Hi guys.

Just saw a solution to this on another thread. Enter the number by the 027 and also the +6427 formats into your phone book. This will rectify the problem. Your contacts will have two numbers listed, but hey, it works. Or just add +64 to all your contacts if you just want one number per person.

I knew I came in here for a reason.

I'm seriously considering changing my iPhone over to the XT network. How can I change my contacts from my Voda sim to an XT sim easily?

Would Bluetooth be the best option? Keep in mind I've never used Bluetooth before.

was running 2.2.1 (JB'ed) on itunes 8.2 updated carrier packet manually sweet as, all worked well.
upgraded to 3.0 (no JB'ed) and itunes 8.2.
applied chage to itunes so now it will accept .ipcc
only when i update and point to Telecom_nz.ipcc i get the error message "The iPhone "XXXX" could not be updated. An unknown error occured (0xE8000051)"

So, any suggestions or am I set for a long night of manually inputting a billion numbers?

Oh, wait. Does this mean I don't have to input the contacts again at all? If my contacts are stored on the phone, can I still use them without putting them on the XT sim card?

You can transfer the contacts from your sim to your iPhone by going 'Settings->>Mail,Contacts,Calendar-->import Sim Contacts'. If you really want your contacts on your sim card as well (maybe as a backup) when you are in store changing to XT I believe Telecom can transfer your contacts between sims. I am not certain of this so you will need to check.

When you upgraded to 3.0 the carrier settings should have remained. If you restored to 3.0 then you will have lost them. If that was the case I am not sure why you are getting that error but I would try restoring again, downloading the carrier file again and then updating the carrier settings.

Sadly only read the last part about the latest version of iTunes after I had downloaded it and upgraded the software on the phone to version 3. It now refuses to conect with an earlier version on my daughters PC. It won't let me restore the phone to the previos version so I obviously require some other application to install the bundle. Is there any such beast available?

Someone said earlier my iPhone contacts were stored on my iPhone, not the sim card. So are they on the sim card as well as the iPhone?

only the existing ones. any new ones will be iphone only. getting new ones back on to the sim is a venture into jailbreak land.

Re. contacts on the iPhone - I think the phone only uses contacts saved within the phone, altho' you can transfer contacts from a SIM card onto the phone. Generally people will get contacts onto their phones by syncing with Addressbook (or Yahoo/Google contacts) on their computer....hmmmm....this would be for mac, I presume there's a PC equivalent? So even after a full reset it should be easy to re-sync with your addressbook. To check whether you have contacts on the phone you could remove the SIM card & then look in your contacts to see what's there....if your contacts are there then it'd be fine to just pop in an XT SIM card.

Sorry kiwigirl8 I mis-read and thought you had just got an iPhone and your contacts were currently on a SIM card being used in another phone.

If you have contacts in the contacts app on the iPhone they are stored on the device, not on the SIM so when you put your new SIM in they will still be on the phone.

A quick search here on Geekzone or Google will reveal that there are ways of updating the carrier file if you have updated to iTunes 8.2. Now you could just ask "why don't you just answer the question", well unfortunately the question has been answered numerous times.

People....PLEASE search and read threads before asking questions.
