Have you tried a different router? Maybe the Thomson just decided it doesn't like the phone?

Or maybe you are just holding it wrong?

For what it's worth, in my experience iOS 6 has terrible wifi performance in general. I get throughput measured in the bytes per second over wifi on my iPhone 5, and that's WITH 6.0.2. It's a software problem, and you're just going to have to wait for Apple to get off their butts and fix it.

I have iPhone4, have upgraded through all the software releases including the latest, and have a Thompson Telecom router (the V8 version)...never had any wi-fi issues with my phone or any other iOS devises, they are far more stable that a Win7 and Win8 laptops we have.

I know that's no help other than to demonstrate it does actually work. maybe a hardware fault that was just coincidence?

Not sure where in the country you are but we're in Rotorua - happy to take a look at it for you if you're nearby.

If apple have released an update that has caused a fault, I am guessing they have to put the problem right. SOftware though is a grey area, because an update may fix it. But I think they should release it in a timely manner. Maybe you should get onto apple about it, if you are 100% sure it isn't a router problem.

How opld is it? If under 2 years I would expect it to be covered by the cga as long as they don't find it is water damaged or impact damaged, which seem to be common reasons for not honoring warranties.

You may have a chance, as you would expect an iphone, which is a top of the range device,  to last more than 2 years. But it all comes down to what the assessment comes back with. I had a friend whose phones battery died. They thought it was just a faulty battery, but after it was assessed they were told that it was waterdamaged. They disputed this, but not much they could do. Possibly sweaty hands or pocket.

To be honest it's going to take a bit more than turning up to the store and asking the phone to be sent away as part of the CGA since it's over 2yrs old.

How I see it is you've got over 2yrs use out of an iPhone - just call it as a chance to move on and sell the phone on Trademe.

Write to the manager of the the company a letter or email. The consumer.org.nz website has a list of templates , called 'letters that get results'. http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/letters-about-goods/asking-for-a-repair
