Handsomedan: Funny...I have a standard display on my iPad 2 and a retina on my iPhone...don;t really notice the lack of Retina on the iPad.

I am sure that if I migrated to a retina iPad, I'd find it hard to go back, for whatever reason, but it's a funny thing...I just don't think the iPad non-retina display is that bad...in fact it's not bad at all.

It Just means you need glasses. Serious.

I agree with what Handsomedan has said, as when I started playing with Ipad 1 + 2 I had an iphone4 and the difference was not that bad, after gonig from my ipad4 to works ipad1 + 2 it is really noticable.

I think after all this, I'm probably best to wait and see what April offers us in the world of new releases.

I laugh at myself when I use the mini. I'm amazed at how magically it doesn't really feel mini. Then you go back to the full ipad and it's clearly bigger. The mini I think is a really good size.

I find the iPhone's a bit stupid really, nice size as a phone but too small for 90% of the other stuff (non calling/texting) that I'd want to do on it. The iPad mini seems a great fit, and is ideal for bus runs etc, where a full ipad is a bit much/public too.

My mother is looking to buy a tablet of some sort and I'm thinking the obvious mini retina will be the go, or a cut price mini original when the retina mini appears. Shockingly obvious product release decision that one by apple.

Good point about the 3G options picking up the GPS too, as I believe it's all on the same addon chip...

I don't think it is so noticeable on the iPad Mini because, although it's not a retina display, it's the same resolution as the iPad 1 + 2 but physically shrunk to the size of the Mini display.

eg, The iPad 2′s 9.7-inch screen at 1024×768 is 132 PPI. The iPad Mini’s 7.9-inch screen at 1024×768 is 163 PPI. Granted, it's still not the retina display of 264 PPI but it's OK.
