Apple are replacing them for genuine chargers at a low cost.

I believe that this wasnt for third party chargers but faulty Apple chargers

Anyway, You can just buy one of these, They're $29

Im not sure about the US versions because theyre a 1 piece adaptor. The NZ/Aus ones as above are 100-240v and have a plug that can come off (as you can see the split in the picture)

So it might be possible to just use a standard USA to NZ adaptor or just get that

Replacing faulty Apple chargers for a fee makes no sense. They would replace them free of charge. The program is definitely for replacing 3rd party chargers, but I can't find anywhere where it specifically specifies where I can take up this offer (e.g. can I just rock up to the local Noel Leeming or Yoobee and pay for a replacement without looking like a fool?).

In terms of getting a US end plug for my NZ charger, I just bought one of these from Deal Extreme http://dx.com/p/genuine-apple-10w-usb-power-adapter-for-apple-ipad-white-100-240v-us-plug-39779. I'm not sure how genuine it is, but the end plug works fine with my official NZ chargers and vice versa.

No the chargers they were replacing were 3rd party ones, some had been manufactured to look very similar to Original Equipment, so basically Apple was attempting to protect its image, (although at the discounted price I suspect Apple were still making a slight profit on the replacement chargers)
