NonprayingMantis: Even if apple launch some cool tv thing, what are the chances of it beings 'nz friendly'? Not much I reckon. We don't even have Apple TV apps for tvnz on demand or quickflix yet, and iTunes still has no tv series.

Not sure my data cap or internet speed would be especially useful for any kind of inter web telly thingy.

That's even funnier if you're British.

When I was a kid we only had 3 channels until I was about 11 or 12. They were

BBC1

BBC2

ITV

Ha! ITV may even still be around for all I know. It was the only channel with adverts on in those far off halcyon days.

Fred99: Funniest thing (IMO) is what this "iwatch" is going to be, and how much time people waste creating "leaks" of what it will look like.
From Google search / images:

There will never be an iWatch on my wrist.

Hopefully someone more geeky than me will be able to tell me how this would improve my life...!

Non required fashion accessory. If you have to carry your iPhone to feed it cellular, whats the point?

Re bigger iPhone screen being backtracking, SJ said the 3.5 is perfect fpr one handed use, but the world moved on when smartphones matured. Allow time since his passing to avoid sudden changes once he died, that time is now. Id be surprised if they released a 4.7 and 5.5 as is rumoured/leaked, they need to leave the 4 there as the one handed version and one bigger version

Maybe consider a bigger cap, or unlimited plan.

As of speed, you must be very unlucky there as about 90% of nz can he speeds fast enough to stream decent SD video.

I'd say nearly 90% of us could probably stream HD video. Maybe not full HD, but 720p. I know I get HD on Netflix through AppleTV with a Telecom ADSL2 connection.

ITV does still exist in the UK. In fact they forced apple to stop using the name "iTV" for any product (current or future).

There's two points ... firstly to cash-in on the ridiculously silly "wearables" fad and secondly so the terminally lazy don't even have to take their mobile phone out of their pocket.

For my taste they look like Casio digital watches, I hate Casio digital watches.

They will however be sold by the millions and in a year all two will be sitting in millions of drawers around the globe unused for around 6 to eight months.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I agree. "hey look what I got this is so cool"   A few weeks later, as you say, into a drawer, or Trademe if expensive.

jarledb: He is referring to the rumoured iWatch. Not sure I see the humor though.

I have to admit it was a pretty poor effort in my defense I am British.

its is an interesting area, the next wave of consumer excitement will be around wearables

they are largely a peripheral for the smartphone or Phablet

how about if you left your phone/phablet in your pocket or bag, but was able to glance at a wearable to see that text message or see who is ringing

what if that wearable measured your activity levels, your heartbeat, your blood glucose levels

is that a non-required fashion accessory or the next biggest thing?
