freitasm: Just wondered how someone is going to pass through Customs with ten iPhones and not get pinged for GST (and a fine if not declared and found).

I had the same thought although even with paying GST they look like they could make a good profit.

khull: Lol this post made my day - if people can afford to drop that amount of money, they would have just done the same by going to Australia for the launch.

Suggest people do something meaningful this weekend like Vote (if they haven't)

This.

$1000 buys a pretty nice weekend in OZ, and pick up anew phone while there.

Maybe the extra $1000 costs is to cover the GST and customs duty that will need to be paid on these?

I think people could do with a budget option. Therefore I am graciously offering my iPhone 5s (32GB, Space Grey, excellent condition) for the bargain basement price of $1149. Pickups allowed, but for an additional $5 I can ship to anywhere in New Zealand. I'll even throw in a free All Blacks case and screen protector (already applied).

Note: I will not negotiate on price, but I will consider a trade with a new 64GB iPhone 6.

Watch out for the IRD pinging you as well for the income earning.  You are liable to declare this to the IRD as income for the year.

    Compare: 2004 No 35 s CB 2

and also

OP is an Aussie resident.  Buggered if I know why we let them visit.  tongue-out

In theory he could claim back the Aussie GST as he is exporting the items.

No you won't, you'll be getting back the GST you actually paid in Australia.
