khull:
seoras: I've never had my iPhone set as NZ. It's always been UK.
If you change it to NZ, or any country other than the Apple Pay countries (US/UK) passbook won't allow you to add cards.

With incoming netflix tax you'd also be mad wanting to also have a NZ region iTunes account to go with. (while the settings can differ)

yes its absolute madness to pay tax for hospitals, schools, police, refugees, dole, DPB

For someone who is leaving NZ, I'll ignore that selfless comment :)

In all seriousness, the Netflix (non NZ) vs Netflix NZ product offering isn't even comparable with the titles available

Getting closer but still not in NZ.

I had a look at ANZ's NZ twitter feed and kept seeing "we're not planning anything at the moment"

It's not Apple Pay, but if you're with ASB Visa you can order a little sticky tile to pop on the back of your phone (or a keyring) that is basically a second copy of your Visa card paywave chip. It's linked to your Visa account just as the card is and you can use it to pay at contactless terminals. I have one but can't bring myself to stick it on my beautiful phone. Might stick it on a keyring though.

Cant rely on contactless still. I did a huge shop at countdown and went to pay with my phone and semble and it was on insert or swipe only. Had to dig around in my bag for my wallet. What if I had not bought it with me?

Till it works everywhere and all the time contactless payment on a phone is just a novelty.

I love using contactless, but you eventually get used to which stores will not accept contactless payments.
Countdown used to take Credit only, then eventually Debit and credit, and now it seems to change depending on how the moon and sun line up that day.

Kmart seems to take credit contactless but a few times it fails so I just don't bother there. Some Pack'n'Save stores are the same.

Re: contactless stickers, they need to make ones that can be restickied somehow. I always have a case on my iPhone but I change it too frequently to warrant even having the pay tag anymore since I'd be forever turning it on and off.

Yes, exactly. And there's no way I'm sticking it to the phone itself.

Finally got back home to Scotland for 2 weeks. Talk about a "historic" time to be there!

Anyway, on arrival I returned to attempting to get Apple Pay working and there it worked perfectly accepting all 3 of my UK cards (2 Visa credit cards, FD & Barclays and my FD Visa debit).

So it looks like the problem I originally posted about was indeed due to Apple refusing to allow users to add cards to their devices when outside of their home country by checking the GPS location.

ApplePay works beautifully and I found myself disappointed when I couldn't use it. So fast, so easy.

At one hotel I checked out of the girl at reception said "you can't pay with contactless for more than £30". The look on her face when I ignored her and went ahead an paid successfully was priceless.

Countdown seem to have random tills that don't have contactless enabled on them. When I asked about this once I was told they complained to head office but nobody ever does anything.
