alexx: Love my Macbook Pro, but as an Android phone / Linux desktop user I probably don't qualify as a fanboy. I'm looking at the graph and the price seems to be back at around the September level, so perhaps not as dramatic as the headline suggests.

I wonder if we are almost getting to the point where smartphones are now like desktops and tablets - no real need to upgrade every 1-2 years if it isn't broken. The iPhone 6 / 6 Plus was a big step up from previous models, but will we be able to say the same about the next model and the one after that?

I see them as commodities now, its just a phone. The 6 wasnt a big step up, it was a years old catchup, and the 6 Plus is underpowered.
It might be time for the blockbuster upgrade

MikeB4: Its also worth noting that all the vitals for Apple Inc were up in 2015 that is Revenue, Operating income, Net income, Total assets and Equity.

Thats normnal, The stock price is sentiment, OTOH making it a better buy, or OTOH the P/E ratio has corrected. Or, the future does not look like the past, due to saturation, meh over minor yearly upgrades, drip feeding, or that maybe people just want to do everything and not have to work around it? To me, the aura has gone, but the platform is still my preference. My expectations have lowered, my desire to pay has lowered. These are sentiments I read a lot of Apple centric forums in recent times

The percentage of Apple buyers that hang around on tech forums is small.

???

Tech forums show sentiment of users. There are many Apple users
Stock prices shows sentoment of Apple stock holders. They are everywhere

Im not interested in how the subsets overlap, they are two distinct parameters of sentiment of Apple products, which you'd expect to translate to future purchases
Or a 20% drop in stock price of the largest company in the world is niot newsworthy. What is newsworthy to me is why
