I have downgraded to 1.1.1 but I still get the green screen is there any way to have the red screen?

So my broblem is jailbreaking 1.1.1 using ibricker with 3.9 bootloader and 04.03.13 modem after messing up.

before messing it was 04.02.13_G

please tell me what to do

What iTunes version are you using?

Does itunes recognise it?

I am not saying downgrade to 1.1.1, you probably have that. You need to restore to 1.1.1 like I said. and like I said you may need to do it more than once.

Just a quick update, having followed the upgrade to 1.1.2 guide the iPhone failed to restore with the 1.1.2 image. Instead of the "slide for emergency" screen after the restore completed, I get a phone in restore mode screen i.e. the cable and iTunes logo. Now I have updated the phone before to 1.1.2 with no issues but not now. So I have restored to 1.1.1 and unlocked the phone and it's working well.. Any thoughts on why the 1.1.2 upgraded is not working? I have downgraded the baseband as we discussed at the start of the thread.

When you finished the upgrade to 1.1.2 and it goes to the restore screen, did you try to use ibrickr or iNdependance to kick it out of DFU mode? If you haven't tried that  it should be the next thing to try. And once it is out of DFU mode it should be on 1.1.2. Also do you get a error in iTunes?

Thanks for the prompt yep nIndependence kicked the iPhone into life after the 1.1.2 upgrade. Tried the 1.1.3 upgrade but I believe I lost the wireless connection halfway through the upgrade. Now I can't get any wireless access via the phone. I have rebooted the phone and the wireless router (this reply is coming via my wireless connection) Also the phone is showing that over half the 8GB is being used when I have no music, videos or podcasts loaded. I going to guess that I should start the whole process off again. Will do this when I can find a spare 3-4hrs.

Yes unfortunately it does mean that you are going to have to start the procees again Frown. If you loss wireless during the process it just won't complete. I had this happen to me once, I was not happy.

Hi NZ Bullet just thought I would fire you a quick update. Came home last night and noticed that I had a pretty good wireless signal strength so tried the 1.1.3 upgrade again and it worked fine. It looked like the upgrade had frozen the iPhone because it did not show as completed but when I forced a restart the phone came up with 1.1.3 and is working fine. Now just remind me why I should now upgrade the baseband? The instructions I have read state that you also have to use anySIM 1.3 to unlock the phone again. Does the baseband upgrade re-lock the phone? Again huge thanks for stepping me through the process. What apps are you running on the phone, maybe I should start a new thread on the best 3rd party apps and the most stable

Cheers for the update sackmaster. Upgrading to the new baseband doesn't really do that much. Esentially it means that you can use Google Maps 'Locate' function without having to use a third party app first. (If you want to use it with the old baseband each time you restart the iPhone you have to run 'LocateMe.app' once and then it will work). That is the obvious thing it does but it more than likely affects some behind the scenes stuff as well. Sorry for the bad analogy, but as another GZ user said, why have a 2008 shape holden/ford with a 2007 engine (or something along those lines!).

When you upgrade to the new baseband it does SIM re-lock your iPhone and you use the new AnySim 1.3 to unlock it. It DOES NOT un-jailbreak it, so you do not need to go through any upgrade/downgrade/upgrade procedures or any other messing around to activate and access the iPhone system.

As long as your iPhone is....

  • OTB: 1.0.2 or 1.1.1
  • Bootloader: 3.9
  • Current Firmware: 1.1.3
  • Baseband: 04.02.13_G
  • Jailbroken
  • Wi-fi Signal
....you can follow the guides at the start of this thread to upgrade to 04.03.13_G and then SIM Unlock. It is quite straight forward and I would recommend it, however some people have said 'if it ain't broke then why fix it' - it's your choice.

As for Apps, I don't actually have that many anymore. A couple of reasons for this, 1. Some don't work and 2. I have tried most of them before and don't really need them.
Good idea starting a new thread about it though.

Cheers

Hi ya,

My iphone is currently 1.1.1   04.03.13_G jailbroken
I have a turbosim, but would probably rather use anysim, as im going overseas soon.
Could you please advise me on how to get the sim unlocked/phone working?
Everything else seems ok, wifi etc

Thanks a lot

Your best bet is to use the new ZiPhone solution. It is by far the easiest way of doing things. When you do it make sure you have the sim in the iPhone that you want to use, i.e not Turbo Sim.

Go here to download the latest version of ZiPhone

Basically you should put the iPhone into DFU mode.

Load iTunes and do a Restore to 1.1.3 (download firmware through iTunes)

Once restore complete, close all running instances of iTunes

Open ZiPhone back up and tick Jailbreak, Activate, and Unlock.

Let it do its thing - 45 sces to 2 1/2 mins

Once complete you should have a nice shiney, jailbroken, unlocked, Activated iPhone.

When you have done the above, if you have any problems go to this topic to see if your problems have been experienced by others and to get an answer. If not please post your problems there and we will attempt to help you. Or if everything is fine go to the same topic to see how to tweek your iPhone for best performance in NZ.
