On the apple watch page at https://www.apple.com/watch/ it says it need an iphone 6 or later as per below. It is odd though that an iphone 5s wouldn't work, as that also support ios11. But Apple doesn't usually make errors with this sort of info.

That's interesting! The same page on the NZ site says it needs a 5S. Granted that the local model doesn't have LTE; I wonder whether there's something inherent to LTE that makes it require a 6, or whether it's just an error.

Apparently iPhone 6 had Bluetooth 4.2, while the 5s only had 4.0. 4.2 added IPV6 support, maybe the LTE watch uses IPv6, and the existing ones don't?

It was called "Tandem" if I recall correctly.

I think you're right.

I had tandem.

The primary phone had to be turned off (or out of coverage) for calls to be diverted to the secondary phone.

The question now is whether or not I want to wait for the LTE watch at an unknown date and put up with the likely ridiculous NZ carrier pricing, or just get the non LTE model. 🤔

Was called car phone duo and they did not share the same MSISDN

Personally, I don't see any point in buying the non-LTE model especially if you already have a Series 2. Spark already offer the Samsung Gear s3 with 3G on a shared plan so I suspect they will do the same. Just the usual Apple staggered roll out.

Guessing that is why they are no longer selling the series 2, and will only sell the series 1 version alongside the series 3

Interestingly the NZ Apple site is only listing aluminium case variants for the series 3. I assume that stainless steel will be available at a later stage along with LTE.

Yes thats the name I was looking for. I think you right, they did not share the same MSID, but both could receive calls on the same number. Outgoing calls if I recall correctly had a different number.

I don’t know, just passing on what I was told. They did have to go away and refer to their ‘resources’, so I assume it must be written down somewhere.
