GSManiac: Would love to know the % of NZ stores that accept Paywave. Apple said the figure in Australia is 99%. Id say we are well behind.

I guess that’s why Apple card also has a physical card for stores that don’t accept paywave. .

My experience in Australia is that Paywave is pretty much the default payment option. I travel there for work a fair amount and pay for absolutely everything with it.

NZ seems to have a very high eftpos uptake, unlike the rest of the world that seem to love credit cards.  I can see the appeal for things like apple pay to companies that invent these systems, as it is basically taking a cut on every single purchase. It is the ultimate business model.

Still waiting for Siri on my Apple TV 4(and K) so won't hold my breath for much from the AppleTV+ streaming service in NZ.

The NZ Apple website has a page dedicated to AppleTv+ which presumably covers what we’re getting.

I would of thought Apple would of taken the perhaps easier option and brought Netflix outright

Just watched a synopsis of the launch event by Engadget. They described it as "Apple introducing TV, Magazines and a Credit Card to Gen Y".
iTunes changed the landscape of music when they introduced it but they are way late to this party.
I note the AppleTV app will be available on Samsung Smart TVs and then expand to LG, Sony and VIZIO, but probably in the US only for the foreseeable future, although if it's an app surely it can be provided for the various TV operating systems internationally. Not holding my breath here. Still waiting for Alexa and Google Assistant on my LG TV. So maybe AppleTV+ on my 2022 microLED foldable vapourware TV.....
Will it be available on a Chromecast or an NVIDIA Shield? Will Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney, Hulu, Lightbox, etc still be available on the AppleTV hardware once Apple has its own streaming service? Anti-competitive if it doesn't.
So I'm expected to subscribe to;
Netflix
Amazon Prime
Lightbox
Spark Sport
Disney
and now AppleTV+.

I notice that Hulu is bundled into the Apple offering (in the US anyway), so I wonder if it will be the same as Netflix was where Apple took a cut of each subscription when it was paid through iTunes. Netflix recently put a stop to that.

Bit of a yawn-fest really. Are Apple out of hardware ideas?

I wish that the nz media would be a little more sceptical when reporting on this and add a comment along the lines of "many programmes features may not be available in nz"

Similar to stuff talking about Tesla 3 with comment like no confirmed shipping dates for nz or equivalent...

I am excited for Apple Card but unfortunately it will most likely not come to New Zealand. Love that 2% cash-back rate though.

American credit cards in general have much better returns than New Zealand ones, not just cashback cards but also ones which give you various credit card points which can be used for a much larger variety of things than the NZ equivalents.
