I would have thought they would have come up with an alternative design that didn't require overlapping coils. Even charging docks that you can clip together. It looks like they were looking to provide a solution for something that wasn't really a problem. What is difficult about putting a device in a particular spot to charge. They could have produced something just as good that they could have sold for heaps if they had kept it simple. It was the software and animations which was cool. It does make you wonder when they had the demo of it, whether that was actually a working demo, or similar to what SJ with the original iphone demo. 

 

I remember when apples wireless charging tech was originally being talked about some tie before airpower was shown, they were looking at being able to charge a device at quite some distance away, and beaming charging power to it, which sounded like science fiction.
