Sorry, don't have a mac so I can't help you. However, I am thinking of getting one since I would like to develop for the iPhone. (Stupid Apple wont release the SDK for windows)
so i tried a couple, and i find that Any DVD Converter Professional (Windows, not free) seems to be pretty good, converted a few movies and episodes, works well.
