Has Telecom NZ officially announced they are getting the iPhone? I think they'll end up with the new hardware in June rather than the 3G.

Geekpulp: Yeah I'm 99% sure too. June is what I've been hearing but we will see. One things for sure, vodafone will never get my money at the current pricing.

With the latest 3.0 update I hope Vodafone come to the party with data. I think developers are going to have a field day and we should see some amazing things. But if data remains low then I'll be mega pissed at not being able to exploit the full potential. If Vodafone say that most users don’t need more than 250mb per month then why don’t they just up the plan to 1 GB and assume no one will reach it? Their system obviously can’t cope or due to the stupid size of NZ it’s not worth Vodafone building a system capable of big data plans at cheap prices.

And where’s Visual Voice Mail!

It's where Vodafone isn't..

Apparantly their systems aren't "up-to-it" from what I hear.

But I mean, seriously, that was like one of the big features with the iPhone.. well at least I thought? I get quite a few VM messages, and this feature would be welcomed with open arms.

How many operators actually are offering Visual Voicemail to iPhone users? The Apple Visual Voicemail was certainly a hack that caused all sorts of grief to impliment for operators which is one of the reasons most haven't done it. It was an enhancemant of the 3GPP Enhanced Voicemail SMS delivery.

I suspect we'll start to see everybody offering it in the future once VM systems and networks are upgraded and we started to see some proper standards set.

Yeah, fair enough. and I spose, operators would lose out wouldnt they? because as it stands, we're charged 20 cents (or 17c) to access VM.

Perhaps it shouldnt of been promised as coming very soon by various VF employees while lining up to purchase the phone on opening night then..... And perhaps it should be removed from the promo video displayed very prominently in the window of the same VF store..... (Lambton Quay, Wellington)

Yeah fair enough, we are screwed on vm charges already so I would hate to add some real cost to the process to make 20c a logical fee. Funny how once someone's hitting you hard, softer hits become acceptable eh.

Yeah since when is a technical issue for the carriers a consumers problem? Vodafone shouldn't say it will be there if it's not going to happen eh.
