SilentOne: Dratnz - are you syncing with outlook by chance?

Yup i do.
All was working sweet as till i upgraded to 3.0  then it started. back in 2.2.1 never saw it happen at all.

ok added +64 to a number that was playing up .. and it appears to be ok now.
so thinkng it has something to do with the new XT network and global roaming etc.
weird only started doing it since upgrading to ver 3.0.
or perhaps because i entered APN .. MMS details in manually rather than update the carrier file as i had done with 2.2.1

Will continue to test it out next week when back at work and the calls start up again - happened with 2.2.1 as Aaroona mentioned - frustrating that it's not super-clear who's at fault. I'm leaning towards VFNZ

the txts that come in that are not showing as a contact i simply add as an existing contacting and the problem goes away for that person from then on it definitey seems for me at least to be 027 numbers and they need +64 in front to fix it

anyone make progress on this?
I was thinking about exporting my contacts to csv then write a script to change all the numbers.. sounds risky and might take some time.. but its an idea.

Keeping all you numbers in international notation (+64 21 ...) should do it. Works fine for me here, MMS and SMS included.

I have all of my numbers stored in international format (+64 27... or +64 21...). Everything works well like this, incoming and outgoing both work. No duplicates needed. For landlines just use the standard format (07 #######).

also having this occassional issue with txt, 027 and 029 are sometimes not matched up since 3.0, would be nice if vodafone/apple paid attention to the basics

im certainly not going to add a second phone number to every contact

What second number? Explain again what are the basics you're asking Vodafone/Apple to pay attention to.

Do you have all the numbers in +64 xxx format?

I think the original problem is having 027 xxx numbers in your address book but Vodafone sending TXTs with international notation.

If you are JB, CallerID and Format Fix from the iSpazio repository from Cydia should fix the issue..

Kind of annoying when calls come is as 027 and SMS/MMS come in as +6427 and the phone only recognises one or the other
