The OS 4 is available to Developers now,  This winter for everyone else while the iPad OS 4 coming in Spring.

Oh and if you have a 3G, 1st gen iPhone and 2nd or 1st Gen iTouch it won't do multitasking.. upgrade here I come.

Loving the folders idea - as they say, "Just press and hold an app (wait for it to jiggle) and slide it onto another app - a folder is created. Then slide as many apps as you want onto/into that folder."

That'll make my iPhone so much more organised and how I want it to look - I'll be able to create folders for games - and subsets of games if necessary, plus poffice-based apps, navigation etc.

Multitasking (the way they have described it) and folders are the two things I am really excited about from this OS upgrade...now to see how much they charge us for it!

Behodar: Feature I want, and might see: Multitasking
Feature I want, and won't see: Install apps without using the App Store

I know, there's no chance, but I can dream!

Wow. Someone asked about unsigned apps in the Q&A and Steve Jobs replied with something to the effect of "if you really want porn apps then use Android". Incredible.

I laughed when I read that. Unsigned apps = porn = children's innocence being corrupted.

Nice evolution of the OS, multitasking well overdue. Be interesting to see how far the hardware has come this year.

Ah, I see its not true multitasking. Would be a problem for me where I frequently need apps running actively in the background (for example running listening to the music player, with audiobooster and pocketscrobbler actively running, whilst using run.gps and my BT heart rate monitor).

Is it straight forward to upgrade an iPhone on VF?

My 24 month contract exprires 2/2011. If, an iPhone 4.0 is released this winter, would I be able to upgrade and transfer my contract to the new phone?

So no FM radio?  I would buy a new iPhone without a second thought if they included an FM radio.  May have to rethink my plans now. :(

They haven't released the details for the new hardware (available in June-July), it could possibly have an FM tuner (as the ipod nano has one)

The current hardware has one built into the GPS chip. It also has an FM transmitter. Neither of which have been activated by Apple.

They did say there are over 100 changes to the current software/firmware, so it should be interesting to see what they make the iPhone like in July(ish)

Bear in mind the first generation iPhone and iPod Touch are now EOL. You can not install OS 4 on them at all.
