bonkiebonks: I'd would the more out of place first. I rang around and finally scored one from Westfield in Henderson. When they say they have stock quickly ask them to hold one for your over the phone.

this is really helpful!! do you think it still got some more stock there? I will try to ring them next morning. thanks!!

I have no idea what the matter is with you. calm down~~ how did you know I did not try? I tried, I really tried to contact those store as I can. you should know it is hard to let them pick up the phone . manukau mega, takapuna, st lukes......

Everyone else wanting one from Vodafone on a plan is in the same boat as you, there's no magic answer to your question that's going to get you one before anyone else on that boat so you really do need to just keep hitting the phones.

Do you desperately need an iPhone? If your life doesn't depend on it and you can afford it why not get it from Apple directly? That way you know you'll be getting one, and then you can choose which plan and telco you go with.

Honestly, the others are right -- there's no magical answer. However, a few common sense based educated guesses and suggestions will likely enhance your chances.

I tried ringing around many of the stores during Saturday afternoon and VERY few stores picked up. Not hard to guess why -- they will busy processing signups. If you're gonna ring, ring early, i.e. just after or even slightly before opening hours or within a couple of horus of opening. Also, be prepared to drive around a bit and, in particular, be prepared to try the shops in lower socio-economic areas. You don't need to be a genius to figure out why - poorer people don't tend to snap up non-essential items as quickly. Also, don't rush to typical shopping hotspots like St Lukes and Sylvia Park necessarily -- they will probably have more stock but just about everyone will go to those places. Lastly, be persistent.

I must have made about 30 phone calls before finally getting answer. The few two answers I got were "no stock" then I rang up First Mobile at Manukau, spoke with a VERY nice CSR who helpfully volunteered that they had phones in stock but not the Microsims. She gave me the number to the Vodafone retail store in that mall and I found they had Microsims. So a long drive from North Shore and $30 extra for a Microsim that I would have other got later, I managed to pick up a 32 GB instead of the 16 GB that I was gonna get when a person told me at the Retail store that he reserved a 32 GB at the other store but did not need it any more since he picked up his 32 GB at the Retail store (to save $30 on the Microsim). I took his reserved 32 GB and was happy :)

I went to VF Sylvia park retail store last Saturday @ 11am and they just got some new stock received and it took me a while to find a way to get a blue Micro-Sim because they ran out of them and their fellow DigitalMobile VF store refused to help me to get 1 cos I didn't buy the handset from them.
The gud thing is the phone itself is very impressive.
