bassline: 599.00 USD = 822.463 NZD
bassline: well guys your wrong..you can walk into an apple store in the us and buy an iphone4 without a contract. you cant buy it online without a contract and thats where your confused..
Apple has clarified the situation stating that you're able to purchase the iPhone 4 without commitments, just that you'll have to purchase it from a store, not online. If you were panicking at the thought of being tied to a contract in order to get your hands on an iPhone 4, hopefully this bit of news will calm you down.

No-term contract doesn't mean unlocked. The phone is still locked to AT&T.
Yeah depends what state your mate is in. Sales tax can be between 0 & 14%. I asked at the apple store in las Vegas and they told me I could only buy one with a us drivers license or passport for id. Even if you do buy one you will have to wait for the jailbreak for 4.1 to come out.
bassline: bought one, all working .. didint need unlocking or jailbroken
you just buy them in the apple retail store and you can use them in nz as is..
glad i didnt listen to the wrong advice in here
