freitasm: I really like Blackbox (www.blackboxonline.com) but I have received a couple of Jays for review and they are really good (mac-gear.co.nz/brands.html).

Hey Mauricio,

Any idea who else is going to sell the Jays here other than Renaissance? I really like the Jays style.

To hopefully add to the conversation, I have 5 pairs of headphones in semi-regular use, I have some pro-grade sony open air headphones from along time ago (MDR7502). I have some MDR-W08s from Sony, best head band earphones ever (sound quality is not that great, but the fit is ideal).

I have some Blackbox C14s which are pretty rubbish. I have had one lot replaced as the stereo mini connector brok in half (wtf! ), and then with the current ones the seat that the rubber ear molding goes on broke. I emailed their support and they said "oh, we know, the build quality on that model was crap, here some replacement parts". Sounds is fair.

I also have my apple ones for reasons below, but best phones I have at the moment are some metro-fi's from UE.

The remote thing bugs me. Either you get crappy heaphones with a remote AND mike, or good headphones without one thing or the other...

I also got a fm remote which is pretty average from griffin, the one with the oled screen. But the app doesn't work here and it is buggy as hell, Griffin support aren't interested...

I need a retailer to do a remote and mike cable with the female stereo mini connector (gold plated connections), but of course that is probably asking too much...(unless anyone here knows of a magic supplier).

Apologies for the double post but had another thought about headphones, and why does no-one make the cool remotes that we used to have with the top of the line mini-disc players, man they were cool...

In an oled version, that would be sweet...

I have a pair of Klispch Custom-3 earbuds, I highly do NOT recommend them for hip-hop.
They manage to mangle any bottom end, and make spoken word sound pitchy and down right 'meh'.
I rank them down with the Apple in-ear / mic. efforts.
Bleeeurgh.
