Good luck finding an reputable electronics website that will ship to NZ. Amazon, b&hphoto etc dont allow shipping of apple products outside of USA. Best bet is to have a friendn in said country buy it for you and send it in the post but then theres the risk of it being damaged or go missing.

For the xtra $100 just buy it in NZ and support NZ wholesalers

How about this, I have been sent to NZ for a business trip, And I reside in Australia.
If I buy one in NZ (be the first to get my dirty hands on'em) am I able to tax refund/tax rebate on my way out of NZ back home?

Thx!

No. We can do that when we come to visit the west island but NZ doesn't offer that. Only way to do that is buy it from a duty free store but I don't think they will have them.

So what was the pricing for the original Ipad when it first came out in NZ? I see it is now $629 for the basic model but apparently that has been reduced as a result of the Ipad 2 release. Just wondering what the cost was before that reduction.

Cheers.

Wow Thanks for the quick response.

Just did a quick browse on the customs website, alot of shops DO offer a tax refund, however the mac shops (mac magnum?) seem not to... what a shame

Yes this is fine. Doesn't matter what country you are from so long as its not NZ.
Just be sure you have the receipt and product on you as you go through customs and you get your stamp.

No Stamp = No $$$

Ahh so it's possible. Do you mind giving me a few simple instructions on how I can go about doing this?

As soon as go through customs, and before I board the plane I'm assuming.

Anyone seen what the leather cover looks like?

The smartcover looks awesome but can't seem to find any pics of the leather cover.

The leather cover is just the smartcover with leather instead of poly whatever plastic

Which are the models that usually sell out, and do they usually have the full range at most retails stores, say DSE? I am looking at getting the highest spec model.

I spoke to someone at Harvey Norman yesterday and was told that the 16g is the model that they are expecting to be most popular.  HE also said that there was not going to be much stock, no numbers were given though.  And like others have said no selling before 5 pm.
