mattbush: Keep calling the 0800 APPLE number and asking them why NZ customers are being treated in a shabby fashion.

What is the point of this?

Agreed, the only thing that will result from this is making other people have to wait longer in the "queue" while some person rants about not being able to get a phone.

And having rung Apple recently I'd be pretty pissed if someone was doing that

This sort of price gouging comes around with every new product. I remember when the SGS2 first came out there were people on TM selling them for $1600+ now that can be picked up for half that price..

This sort of 'why-do-we-pay-soo-much-here' post comes up every time Apple release a new product.....
And not surprisingly (the informed) comments are always the same.

If it wasnt for vodafone jacking up the price of iphones this year, we would have likely been included in the 2nd round of the launch. (Really? Lichenstein gets it before NZ, REALLY?)

Not to fear though, on yesterdays earnings call, Tim Cook explained that they delayed adding additional international carriers until after the iphone 4s launch - so its very likely we will see the iPhone heading to Telecom in December.

Why is that hard to understand? UNLESS they've moved their country to be at least 3 hours away from the nearest continent....

Its hard to understand given that NZ was the first country to get the iphone 3G, and the fact that lichtenstein has a popualtion of just 38,000 people.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Well with such a low population that probably just makes it even easier!  Sounds like a single pallet of iphones will do for the whole country, don't even have to bother setting up a distribution channel just sell them to a single shop :-)

Why bother taking it to a shop, just sell it straight from the airport or wharf! :-)

People will always pay premium for any new tech. Anyone remember the story of the guys that bought a PS3 and then proceeded to smash it right infront of others who'd been in a queue for days to get their own... it's all madness I tellz ya.

Good point.

Actually, looking at the list below it seems its bascially all of europe getting it later this month (+ mexico), whereas every english speaking country (except NZ) already has it: US, Canada, Australia, UK.
"iPhone 4S will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries by the end of October including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland."
