jtan: Not sure if anyone has posted this already but Vodafone NZ announced on their official Facebook page and on Twitter (https://twitter.com/vodafoneNZ/status/248658869818097665) that they will be taking iPhone 5 preorders from 12:01am tonight on their website... I would imagine Telecom NZ will make a similar announcement soon.

Yay. should be good on VF too, as they have that network thing Dual Carrier, which i know the new iphone has, subject to coverage of course. http://www.vodafone.co.nz/speedy-network/

Lame! Can only pre-order through Vodafone if you go on an $80 minimum Smart Data plan. No option for outright purchase.

Guess I'll wait and see if Apple has pre-orders!

Those interested in preordering from Vodafone, the phones will ship ON the 28th. Only available to purchase on a plan, can check out the pricing and plans here: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone5/buy/

Looks like Vodafone haven't updated their website homepage yet... (someone posted the link on FB) ~No word from Telecom so far with their launch plans..

I struggle to see how 1GB for $80 is 'lots of data' but yes plans are as expected. On plan only at this stage. I think I'll keep my 3GB for now

Is anybody managing to pre-order from the Voda website. Been trying since 1am - when click Order it just says Processing Order... and sticks there forever.

For anybody interested, I'm only 3 months into my latest 24 month voda contract and it cost me less to break contract ($821) + get iphone 5 on plan ($149 iphone5 32GB $120plan) = $970 than it would to buy the iphone5 outright ($1199).

$80 minimum just for measly 1gb of data? And telecom isn't better with 500mb for $39 a month.
I guess a lot of people will buy the phone outright and go on the $19 prepay plan. And for people who really want to be on a plan can I guess go on 2degrees $39 monthly with 1.1gb.

I'll just wait it out and hope Apple do a preorder but otherwise I'll just have to order direct next Friday as I refuse to be tied in for 24 months to rip off plans like the ones on offer.

Wow, am I working this out properly?

So if you get it on the $80 plan and want to cancel:

$80 * 23 * 50% = $920 + $649 = $1569 (+ one month of the plan ($80))

or

$120 * 23 * 50% = $1380 (+ one month of the plan($120))

Oh nevermind then, not that bad. Must've miscalculated before typing it out. Well now it's here for everyone else. I'm pretty sure it's closer to 2k with telecom.

Are you currently paying $120 for your existing contract?

Hopefully pre orders from Apple start 11 AM today. I can't believe the carriers have put up pre orders before Apple itself.

I'm hopeful too. Where did this 11AM rumour come from - I've only seen it mentioned in this thread?
