surfisup1000: Is it against the law to jailbreak?

It is certainly a breach of contract at the very least.

Just curious.

From wikipedia:

New Zealand's copyright law allows the use of technological protection measure (TPM) circumvention methods as long as the use is for legal, non-copyright-infringing purposes.[44][45] This law was added to the Copyright Act 1994 as part of the Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act 2008.

Hey thanks, good to know. I might give it a go one of these days (assuming I can reverse back to the official OS).

Just because I can :)

ah the depths of google finally explains the error was due to itunes not being able to talk to apple ... disabled some powerful firewall type stuff ... now on its way to factory restore ... let's hope my backup was saved well ...

guys i am tempted to re-jailbreak ... BUT have one question: is it easy to unjailbreak?

just so i'm not purely hijacking these are things i found helpful

things to download
- kill background (never actually managed to - always had some red notices saying why it failed)
- activator: hold the round button and camera appears regardless of the state of the phone
- ifiles

things not to download
- siriport.ru lol

To unjailbreak just plug your device into iTunes and click Restore.

Either. If you do a factory restore you'll get asked if you want to set up your device from a backup, this will put all your settings back on the device. So it's up to you whether you do that, or whether you want to start with a fresh slate and set everything up again manually.

EDIT: Also, another app I recommend is Dreamboard.  Seems to be the "next generation" of Summerboard/Winterboard type apps.  It's a full skin/UI replacement app so you can download all sorts of different layouts.  It comes with an Android UI built-in.

Most of the downloadable layouts aren't compatible with 6.1 yet but I imagine now that there is a jailbreak it won't take long for those layouts to come up to speed as well.

Definitely worth a look, I'm looking forward to putting a Metro UI on my iPad and having a play :)
