dickytim: I really am of 2 minds on the smart watch.
On 1 hand I am a geek and love the latest gadgets, now in my life I am in a place to afford them.
On the other hand I don't wear a watch and haven't in more years than I can remember.
I think the novelty if it would wear off quite quickly.
I think of other devices, my Ipad for example, when they came out they looked like a fad, but to be honest they have their purpose, my ipad's have actually replaced my home PC's.
IPhone/ Smart phone, I have had a mobile phone since the 1990's the iPhone just does so much more than the Nokia 5110 ever did.
The smart watch, google glass, I can't see what they are replacing that I already use.
tdgeek: I pretty much agree. They will sell reasonably well, to gadget wanters, to high expectation buyers, to the health focused. I think just the latter will keep them in constant use. Time will tell

I got to try Glass last year and I have to say that speaking for myself, besides all the other cool things it does I would buy Glass as a navigation device alone. Okay that is what I will tell my husband it is for, but really what I want to do with it is play Ingress.

Dingbatt: I wonder how much better than the Pebble the Apple offering will be? Can pretty much guarantee it will be $500+ when released, so twice as good as a Pebble?
Of course it will be along with the $1300 must have iPhone6..

alasta: I suspect that the iWatch will be of little interest to those who are not into health & fitness. However as a regular half marathon runner this device could be fantastic for me. I have previously considered buying one of those specialised GPS watches for this purpose, but I don't want to mess around with cables and uploading to store the data.
Apple is very good at knowing what market segments to target new products at, so the rumours pointing to a health & fitness focus are probably on the money.
SheriffNZ: Most of the medium to top end GPS watches don't need cables, the can sync via bluetooth with an app on your phone. Check out DCRainmaker.com. He's reviewed a lot of the sports tech and has a tool which you can use to compare each watches specs.

gnfb: I wonder if they do release a watch how heavily it will rely on "sport fitness health" to sell it ? I am guessing they will have to look at a more mainstream aspect to sell it. Oh! its exciting!! Like the night before Christmas!.............. and that is how they do it!
