In that case it seems to me that black would be a more appropriate colour for the face.

I don't get it. I think black would look better, but why would it be more appropriate?

Hmmm might have to sell my black iPhone 7 Plus and get a (Product)RED one.

Am I the only one who thinks the (Product)RED one would look better with a black front?

No you're not.

Same, it looks ghetto.

its not so much about looks but about the cause it is supporting, HIV/AIDS.

Regardless of how good the cause is, I wouldn't drop that sort of coin on one of these unless I thought it looked really good. And for me, the white face just doesn't do it.

they've raised $US130 million so far in the 10 years they have been selling RED, so there must be a market for it.  for some issues are bigger than the look of black vs white and they are the people who such products are aimed at.

Seriously impressed with Apple.  Spent a day travelling around and calling local retailers trying to find an iPad mini 4 at the new price/memory.  Those that had them at the new price had no stock (and couldn't seem to care less when they were coming in "maybe call back in a few weeks"), those that had stock insisted on selling them at the old inflated price (and with only 32 GB memory)...seriously, you expect to sell that?

Phone call to Apple and order placed on Friday (super efficient call center and ordering) and arrived this morning.  Regular emails tracking the progress of the order along the way.  Never purchased direct before, I doubt I will bother with a retailer again.

Something seriously wrong with the Apple links to their retail outlets in this country.

I'm the same. I have been mucked around by big box retailers so many times, but ordered through Apple is always painless.

I'm not sure whether I would buy a Mac direct from Apple though because you can sometimes get 10% off at JB Hifi if you wait.

And now your iPhone 7 is no longer water resistant!

What about putting some new adhesive in?

A bit of suprise for a Wed morning

Apple releases new iPads via press release

The iPad Air 2 is replaced by a new model simply called the iPad. It retains a 9.7-inch (24.6cm) screen, but the display is brighter and the processor faster. Its price starts at US$329 (NZ$467) for 32GB of storage, down from US$399 (NZ$566). The standard-size iPad is now cheaper than the smaller Mini model.

The 7.9-inch (20cm) iPad Mini 4 now comes with 128GB of storage starting at US$399, rather than US$499 (NZ$708) before. Apple is eliminating the 32GB model. Nothing else is changing.

Apple is also releasing a red edition of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus; for each phone sold, Apple is donating an unspecified amount to HIV and AIDS programmes. And Apple is doubling the storage on the smaller iPhone SE while keeping the US$399 starting price

Clint

Got an email from B&H Photo last week  offering the new iPad for US$319.  Got an email from NZ Apple today who are  selling it for   NZ$539. Have never been a Apple person apart from a ATV3   but as my old Android tablet is past it's use by date this looks attractive.  I suspect Samsung's new S3 tablet will be way more than this..

Apple do this on purpose.

They constrain supply to their retailers, and offer the retailers very little information on stock availability and levels.

None of the Apple retailers will have been notified of the new products before the announcement to the public. None of them will have any say in how many of these products they are getting to sell, or when they will arrive. They get allocated a number of products, the only thing they (the retailer) can choose is which stores in their network they go to.

Always best to go direct to Apple if you want a new-release product.

Welcome to the walled garden of Apple. Then again, they do try to keep you happy in this walled garden. For me, it's no dropped calls when being transferred, always being told who I'm being transferred to and why I'm being transferred to them. Their customer service agents seriously "own the problem". I've only seen happy smiley faces by the staff in the US store that I visited. Apple is giving me a full price refund for two year old faulty equipment that they no longer stock.

Walled garden or not, that's the kind of customer service that impresses you.

Oubadah:

The new "ipad" (thanks for giving it a Google-friendly name, idiots) loses the fully laminated display. I would sooner have purchased an Air 2 for $100 more, and now I'm regretting not having done so (kept vacillating between that and the Pro).

I also notice that in re-releasing the iPhone SE, they've increased the price of the big model to $950 instead of just increasing the storage.

I think they give them a confusing name on purpose, to queer the secondhand market. If you buy the wrong one on Trademe that'll teach you a lesson: buy a new one from Apple next time.
