I have no idea. You'd have to ask Trade Me or Apple.

All I'm saying is Vodafone hasn't asked/directed Trade Me to stop auctions containing the iPhone. It's got nothing to do with us.

Cheers

Paul

Why would VF know the reasons for a TradeMe business decision?

Perhaps google would help

TradeMe trust and safety manager Dean Winter said the site banned iPhone auctions because of the high fraud risk associated with items auctioned before their official New Zealand release.

I have heard from reliable sources that the new iPhone will be Exchange compatible.

A big plus for those with Exchange email accounts!

Bring on the NZ release!

This is not a rumour - it was announced by Apple back in March when they introduced the SDK.

This is just some stupid decision. Trade Me does nothing to stop the load of fake Nokia N95 auctions - we know of a lot of people who bought those phones on Trade Me to find out later they were not N95 and not Nokia...

I rang Trademe yesterday to find out what the deal was with no iPhone auctions:
After waiting 5 minutes after I first asked, the operator came back and said that it was an agreement with apple that they wouldn't allow them to be sold on trademe until the 3g version is officially released in NZ.
:)

its funny how trademe, which is supposedly the best online auction site in NZ is so (fill in the blanks yourself) as to not allow this, when other sites like sellmefree and zillion sell iphones without a hitch. Shame really :(

I know it's getting a wee bit OT but Trade Me have now banned auctions of Dreambox STB's because they are "clones" breaching somebody's IP. If they banned everthing that wasn't legit there would be nothing left on TM! :-)
