I use it quite a bit, Open garage door, House is all hue lighting so handy for turning stuff on and off.

Use carplay and asking for directions, reply to messages and make calls I find very easy and works well.

Felt a bit strange using it in public at first but don't worry about it now as see a lot of people using it.

Yes- perhaps from IOS 13? Fairly recently anyway. I think you need to turn the functionality on manually, rather than it coming on automatically.

Siri will prompt you for access to Spotify, after that works OK. I cannot get Siri to play from specific playlists.

Does anyone know if Spotify works on the Homepods using Siri now?

I just tried it in the weekend, worked ok "Siri, play the trance playlist on spotify", yes i had to hit ok cos it was a non apple app, but it selected the write playlist for me

New to iPhone. So far I have used Siri to get a quick weather forecast, seems to work perfectly.

The one place I would use Siri is with my Apple TV, but “Not available in NZ”, grrrrrr.

I use Siri to send texts to my family while driving, as my phone sits in a cradle to leave the phone completely hands free. To be fair, they get some rather funny texts sometimes as a kiwi accent is hard for even AU Siri to decipher.

I also use Siri to initiate calls via handsfree.

I would also use it for ATV, but as said above...grrr...

Usually by saying "Go Away" (but with different words) because it has been listening to a conversation and mistakenly thinks it has been summoned. It could be quite amusing to document the phrases it mistakes for "Hey, Siri".

The system does seems to know what a variety of two word phrases ending in "off" mean. Yesterday, "Sashimi" did the trick.

I don't use Siri (I could, work iPhone) but prefer Google honestly.

I use Google now quite a bit.

In conjunction with a windshield mount in my car..
I use Google to send text messages, when I leave work. "Text X ~"
Call people straight to speaker phone whilst driving. "Call X on speakerphone"
Find a particular song on Spotify. "play me ~ on spotify".
Driving places "take me to ~"

At home..
Turn on/off and set color of wifi lamp.
Look up weather.
Set reminders.
Looking up movies on IMDB.
Convert pounds to kg, degF to C and vice versa.

And I use Google lens a little but..
Good for identifying plants.
Identifying brands/models of things (E.G. How to take apart the milk frother from the obscurely branded coffee machine at work)

I plan to get more wifi lights, and mulling over the idea of getting cheap wifi wall switch panels to incorporate even more "Ok google" into my daily life.

I use it a lot, setting reminders, finding locations and directions, replying and sending messages, answering calls, getting information eg weather, conversions, news, travel times and so on. It is a very useful tool for disabled folk and able bodied folk.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm not an Apple person, also not a gimmick person. I used to play around with gadgets when I was younger, but in my old age I don't have the patience and just want things to work, so I tend to stick with the familiar.

Due to above, I have generally avoided voice command devices. The only experience of them I have is with Google through the useless Shield remote, which almost forces you to use voice for searches. What a steaming pile of excrement that was! It could not understand simple one-word requests, regardless of how many times I repeated them. It constantly got words wrong. It was such a hassle that I stopped trying altogether. Now I use a Harmony remote through a Flirc and I just type whatever I want. I am not at all looking forward to a robot elderly assistant.

I do all of this as well. Apple TV is a pain in the bum

CarPlay - Make phone calls, Navigation, play selected tunes

Texting - when fingers are dirty/wet or gardening gloves on (I always seem to get texts when in the garden or doing the dishes - odd)

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Not a super heavy users but have found it to be very helpful when I do and its always makes me think that I should use it more at the time.

its quite useful while overseas to quickly translate "hey siri translate <this question> into Russian / Chinese" and does a good job of it

also good for sending texts while driving "hey siri text <wifes name> i'll be there in 10 minutes"
