I should add that I don't intend to upgrade to iOS 14 as soon as it comes out.

I know that a lot of people here will be keen to get hold of it as soon as possible but tinkering with computers isn't really my thing, so after the iOS 13 disaster I won't be doing an update this year until at least 14.0.1 is available.

The changes look good to me. I'll be interested in the App Library. I'm one of those persons who can't deal with 5 pages of apps to scroll through so everything on my phone appears on 1 page neatly organised into folders with like minded apps (eg. Entertainment, Social, News & Weather, Productivity).

The widgets on the home screen will be fun to play with also.

The BMW info on carkey also references the impending release of iOS 13.6.

The following devices are compatible with BMW Digital Key: iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation) and Apple Watch Series 5. BMW Digital Key will require the upcoming iOS 13.6 and WatchOS 6.2.8.

That's me to a tee.

I always have a page or two of neatly curated folders.

I have way too many apps, but as they are in order, mostly hidden away they don't bother me.

The App Library looks intriguing and widgets are something I liked (one of the only things I liked) in my recent foray into Droid with my work phone (which I then had swapped for an iPhone as I couldn't cope (I'm old and entrenched in the Apple ecosystem).

I really like the look of iOS 14... love widgets (hopefully they're actually useful) and the new look and feel.

Honestly number one feature for me is that incoming calls no longer take up the whole screen. This means peak productivity while I ignore calls. Excellent.

Like a mini-app. Good to see info at a glance or do some quick actions. Eg a calendar widget might show your upcoming meetings, or a widget for a bank app might show your current balance or let you transfer money between accounts.

The only widget preview I have seen was on an iPhone. Does anyone know how usable they’ll be on an iPad (if at all) or is this a divergence between iOS and iPadOS? (Edit: Doesn’t matter, my iPad Air2 is supported).

Otherwise the benefit for me, as an Android phone user, is that developers of apps for both OSes might take widgets a bit more seriously and put a bit more effort into them.

Big difference - unlike Android widgets, even in iOS 14 Apple’s widgets are read-only and not interactive:

Not sure if this is what you mean but I have the same (pre-iOS 14) widgets set up on my iPhone and iPad and, as far as I can tell, for the ones I use there’s no material differences between the two platforms - but there are some minor presentation differences.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

i.e. widgets on the Today screen currently work pretty much the same on iPhone and iPad - but the new Home Screen widgets in iOS 14 beta reportedly work differently between the two platforms - at least in terms of freedom to put them where you want.

Yes it is great idea but at the moment I can not think of what I might use it for. I wonder if you can set for Emergency SOS dial or to dial any preselected number ?

I know there is the facility now (https://www.imore.com/how-set-and-use-emergency-sos-your-iphone) but you have to use two fingers on two buttons. With "Back Tap" it is one finger two or three taps.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

PhantomNVD: EV routing in the maps app will be awesome too!

Will this be available in NZ ? as Apple tends to leave a few things out for us Kiwi's.

You can not even use Siri on New Zealand TV nor do they sell HomePod in NZ so personally I would find that more useful.

In my case, my phone getting so hot that I had to put it outside on a cobblestone because I thought the battery was in thermal runaway...

The problems are widely documented.
