OK so you have an answer for everything except the very simple one you initially asked of will an unlocked iPhone 4 work on XT.

Answer = yes.

The OP didn't ask if an unlocked iPhone 4 works on XT. He asked if an AT&T iPhone 4 can work on XT.

The OP knows too well that it will come locked to A&T, linked to a contract, with no New Zealand warranty, that he will have to pay a (reduced) disconnection fee, and that there are currently no iPhone 4 unlocking solutions.
