Off Topic: To anyone looking at getting an iPad (or anything else for that matter) from the US, I highly recommend using www.shipito.com. I've used them tons in the past to get hold of things from retailers that won't send anything overseas, and have had nothing but excellent service. Plus the shipping is usually MUCH cheaper than what you'll get from a retailer, especially when you consolidate packages.

On Topic: Looks like the savings from getting one imported are pretty minimal, I'm going to go down and hopefully pick one up tomorrow afternoon...

So what's everyone's plans for tomorrow night? Head to YooBee/MM Newmarket (for the Aucklanders among us) sometime to line up and just hope there are enough? Or try a smaller store in the hope that there won't be a line?

I won't be able to take off from work until at least 3, so hopefully there's a space in the line for me!

I read that Apple have specifically cancelled all iPad 2 orders to freight forwarders.  But all other Apple products remain unaffected.

Here's one of the links http://trick77.com/2011/03/18/apple-cancels-ipad-2-orders-to-freight-forwarders-international/

You can shop at any website which allows you to pay using your NZ credit card.  For those that don't (e.g. Macy*s, some freight forwarders will purchase the goods using their US credit card and charge you a fee for doing so.
