keepitwarm: No! Don't do it, I took my gecko clear ( yes those are ok) protector off in the pub one night as the corner lifted, my fault, anyway went out next morning forgot and scratched the screen on my 4, after only 2 hours just forgot and put the keys in my same pocket, not a deep scratch or anything but enough to piss you off and noticeable but the screen look and feels better without it, don't think it worth possible scratching it with a bit of bad key pocket action. I'm normally very careful.

I scratched the screen on my iPhone 4 with some keys in the same pocket too. I don't like screen protectors but they're less annoying than a nasty scratch on the screen. Just wish I could find one that felt ok. I used to have the invisible shield ones by Zagg so may try one of thos again although they do feel quite sticky

nicks:
darthmeow: Did you update to 5.0.1?

Yup. Did it at the same time as setting up the phone, so I don't have a comparison to battery use under 5.0.0, but with 5.0.1 it still seems to drain at about 4-5% per hour even when not being used, much higher than my experience with the iPhone 4.

Check your location settings and make sure there's nothing that's constantly using it. The GPS will mow battery down. Mine came off the charge this morning at about 10am and after 12 hours i'm at 84%

I notice a higher battery use. I'm not a high user.It was at 90% this morning, and a few texts and a sync (that imported 1000 artworks) it drained 5%. Given that when I setup wifi sync on my 4, I accidentally synced 1000 photos, that used 2% of battery over wifi.

But, being realistic, the snappy 4 is overshadowed in speed by the 4S, no matter what you do. And Apple states that to maximise the battery, you need to charge to 100% on first charge, and let it fully drain over the next few cycles. So, hopefully all will be well, but very pleased.

Anyone in Dunedin able to ask Siri weather stuff? "Do I need an umbrella tomorrow" etc.

Then ask it:

- "What will the weather be like in Wellington tomorrow"
- "What will the weather be like in Dunedin tomorrow"

Yahoo get their weather info from MetService who definitely have info for Dunedin, so I'm putting my money on some sort of processing/parsing error by Yahoo. I contacted them through their developer section.. hopefully they can fix it.

On my Mac here I have been having problems lately trying to get the weather for Dunedin to show up on the Dashboard. This seems to be a persistent problem for New Zealand. Any other country seems to work fine.

Everywhere except Dunedin works fine, apart from where MetService can't provide info to Yahoo.

Yup, confirmed. I will file a bug report on this, I managed to change it from Feilding to Palmerston North to Wellington but when I tried to change it to Dunedin the gadget stayed the same (Wellington weather) although the name in the gadget settings said Dunedin.

Speaking of bugs, plugged in my phone last night, checked this morning and it was only at 95%. I suspect it stopped recharging when it did its iCloud backup at 10.30pm. Anyone else seen that? Unplugged and re-plugged, it charged to 100% as normal.

OK, just tried "Whats the weather going to be like tomorrow" with Siri and it said: "Sorry Cody, there's no weather info for Otago, New Zealand.". Theres your problem. Also, I can't get the 5.0.1 OTA because I'm on 3G, you need WiFi for that...

I'm not sure whether it will work for iOS updates, but you could try turning 'use mobile data' on in the 'store' option in settings. Worth a try if you haven't already

No, I didn't think that would work and it keeps on saying you must have a Wi-Fi connection to download the update. On another note Siri is very accurate I dictated this whole paragraph using it and only had to make a few corrections.

Do you still have your iPhone 4? If so you could make a personal hotspot so your 4S would be connected by wifi
