alasta: Mine arrived yesterday afternoon as I was hoping it would. The initial syncing and update to 7.0.3 went without a hitch, as did the transfer of my 2degrees connection from micro SIM to nano SIM. Coming from a 4S I find that the taller screen doesn't always provide much benefit but it's good for up/down scrolling apps (e.g. Facebook), and I'm impressed at how fast and accurate the touch ID is. Otherwise I haven't really used it enough yet to comment on performance, camera, etc.

I also bought a Tech21 Impact Trio case which looks smart and suits the device well, but I've been struggling to find a suitable sports armband until I eventually had a look at Mighty Ape this afternoon. They have a product called the Sporteer Velocity which looks really good, so I've ordered one of those.

I am quite impressed, I upgraded from 4 to 5s so there is a huge difference in the performance and features. Touch ID sensor is cool and works great. I bought "Neo Hybrid" case, it's lean and quite light.

After a couple of days of use I can say I'm impressed with the huge performance improvement overmy 4, and I just love love love the touch id sensor.  It's faultless and really makes a difference to the phone's usability.

I bought a super slim iPhone 5 case from desmay in preparation, and I was extremely disappointed when it didn't quite fit the 5S.  So I've just ordered one from Caudabe which looks like the business, nice and slim.  In the meantime it's clothed in film only, but I bought a Michael Kors iPhone wallet too so I think I'll be fine *blush*.

I still have mild FOMO re: not getting the gold!  Need to see one in person I think.

Yes, i think the fingerprint sensor is much more than an evolutionary upgrade -- now that people are doing online banking , confidential work items etc on their phones this is of huge importance.

And, it will be even better when I can use my fingerprint to log into my asb account :)

What are peeps seeing with the battery on the 5S? I've upgraded from a 4 and this phone seems to be chewing through the battery at a much faster rate.

aquatarkus, were you on iOS 7 before you moved over? There are a few things you can do to increase battery life in iOS 7.

This happens all the time with new devices, everyone complains that the battery life sucks but what do you do with a new toy? You play with it heaps, more than you normally would and hence the feeling of a bad battery.

My 5 has noticeably worse life vs 4S and the 5S battery is not claimed by Apple to be any better so not surprised by this.

Mine is chewing though it compared to my 4, which I was also running iOS7 on.  Bit concerning really... at this rate I'm going to have to charge it at least daily, when previously it was once every two days. I'm not sure I'm using it more than the 4 either....  Seems to lose about 5% per hour.

Yes I was on iOS7, I set up the 5S from the 4 backup so most of the settings are the same. I had to charge the 4 every couple of days, the 5 barely scrapes through the day. I think an in-car charger is going to be essential.

That's funny. I was feeling like my 5S is getting better battery life than my 4S.

I'm wondering if the bigger display is what's chewing through the juice for you guys. My usage so far has been mostly limited to audio listening with the display off.

I've noticed that battery life seems rubbish when you get a new iPhone for the first couple days because of all the re-synching of things like photos, apps, updates etc that is happening.

Also, Apple says to follow this practice for the first few charges. Charge to full, do not recharge until it is almost out, then do a charge to full. Do this the first few times then after that you can charge whenever it suits. I read this won't help the battery as such, but gets the battery meter calibration accurate

@tdgeek I was skeptical about the claim that Apple advocated for "several" full charge cycles to calibrate the battery and sure enough Apple mentions nothing about fully discharging the battery at all when it comes to iPhones:

A full discharge is advocated for MacBook portables, iPods, and iPads but on an "at least once a month" basis.

I guess Apple doesn't expect iPhones to be used while being plugged into the wall full time.
