Batman:

Krishant007:

How is the battery life for the Iphone 8 plus users so far with iOS11?

Seeing that iOS11 on the older phones is causing a lot of battery drain, just wanted to see if this is some special sauce that Apple cooked for iPhones older than iPhone8?

It's not the conspiracy the way you suggested (baking something into the OS), but it kinda is. The new OSes are very processor and graphics and RAM intense, so the older processors will struggle and hence "drain".

I have a 5S - not even thinking of 11. GOt an SE - went to 11 and the battery life was halved, went back to 10.3.3, battery life back to the same. But the iphone 7 has no problems (says my wife, not sure how true, but it should be fine, because the processor is dan fast)

Since this is an impression thread, I really really really envy the A11 Bionic processor. It is basically faster than my brand new i7 7500U laptop (if Geekbench is anything to go by). Can somebody figure out a way to install this chip onto my laptop? No I don't have a use for that speed on a phone.

I don't think there is much coincidence that they release the new OS just as the new models come out. So people upgrade to the new OS and get fed up with the new slowness, and decide that it is a good time to upgrade, as they will also be benefiting from the new features. I have done this myself.

ashtonaut: I have a faint crackling sound in the earpiece when on phone calls with my new ip8 (Vodafone). It is quite faint and only occurs when on the line to someone (ie not while ringing), and maddeningly it’s not 100% reproduceable. Never had anything like that with my old ip6 (same sim).

I assume it’s either a cell/carrier issue or a hardware issue. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

You're not the only one.

Ah - my Google fu clearly failed me. Thanks. I’m actually pleased to hear that - at least im not the only one...

@ashtonaut IOS11.0.2 just released has that listed as one of the fixes it addresses

Yeah I’m running 11.1 public beta which has also fixed the issue.

My iPhone 7 battery is draining noticeably faster. Not at the point where it is causing problems, with my usage and could still get 2 days out of a single charge. But at a rough guesstimate I'd say it is draining a good 50% faster on iOS 11.

Hmm I'll ask her if she wants to go back to 10 while it's still possible. Same my SE was also draining about 50% faster both during use and while idle.

Wait! It's still possible? Damn, I think I will be spending a few hours downgrading and resetting up my phone tonight.

iOS11x has been nothing but buggy.. iOS10 was incredibly stable.

I now have an issue with iOS11.1 where the apps won't upgrade from the appstore over Wifi - only way I can do it is over 4G/3G

Otherwise, I'm seriously considering giving my iPhone 7 128GB the chop.

Having to set it up from scratch is too much effort for me. Sure the battery drains quicker, but at my level of usage it's still fine. And I figure I can't stay on the iOS 10 forever, hopefully by the time 11.1 goes RTM most of the bugs will be sorted out.

And if I end up going iPhone X then 11 is the only choice anyway.

my battery was dreadful on a 6 for about a week, but now it seems to have settled down (probably still not as good as on iOS 10 though)

Be sure to install the App Store app on your phone and ready to go. From my understanding, this is the easiest and best way to order!

I know, but this time it will be through Spark Digital so hopefully their portal doesn't crash. That's if I even go ahead, still on the fence.
