Worth noting that Apple has traditionally held back some of the iOS features until the iPhone launch laer in the year.

Yeah point taken. Thinking now there would probably be more bugs than its worth.

I think Apple's target audience largely consists of people who are not particularly interested in tinkering with computers, and as a member of that target audience I have to say that more features isn't what I want. People who are suggesting that Apple are 'behind' the competition might well be right, but it's not a problem that I can personally relate to.

I'd rather that they focus more on fixing some of the niggling usability issues. Working with Facebook to stabilise their hopeless app, fixing the reliability issues with wireless syncing, and reducing the confusion around the workings of photo stream/camera roll/albums would be good examples of where their focus should be.

Unfortunately the computer industry have always been a lot better at adding features than fixing problems, probably because of pressure from marketing people.

I half expect them to come out and say "Oh, those icons. We were only joking" when they release iOS 7 :D

I'd like that.

The feature set looks good to me - the icons and colours...no.

Well, at least that gives users a reason to jailbreak iOS 7 ;)

to be honest, the only feature I was hanging out for was the control centre as when I un-jail-broke my phone I really missed springboard.

The rest makes it look airy and refreshed but functionality wise i'll reserve my judgement.

I personally like the current OS and would be disappointed if it changed.

For me the only reason that I would change to another phone is purely hardware based, it is the iOS that keeps me with Apple.

but I do have screen envy!

I know this conversation has been more directed to iOS, but what do you think of OSX Mavericks?

I think this is more of a service pack if anything ;P

I like the look of Mavericks and you're right, with an annual release schedule it's got to be hard to completely revamp a desktop OS. But I'm sure there's more in it than just a service pack would contain. I'm glad they've included the new features for full-screen apps and multiple displays. Means I don't have to rely on 3rd party apps anymore for those features.

Glad to see the back of faux leather and wood too!

EDIT: Just noticed that the new Safari has a kind of "ClickToFlash" extension built right in!  So now crappy Flash ads and videos won't run on a page until you click on it and tell it to!  AWESOME!

Regarding Mavericks, I hope they put a proper NTFS write driver in it, please Apple...

Don't ask Apple, ask Microsoft to let them license it.

Did you see they are retiring AFP for SMB2?
