I've removed the links to the actual files until tomorrow when they will be back :-)

The www.unlockit.co.nz web page is up again with a few changes.

I have made a note that the method used is actually the supported method given by apple to change the APN (and other settings)

You can actually remove the configuration in another menu on the iphone so I will update this today sometime.

Thanks
Craig

When Casual rates change at the end of the month this will probably be very popular.

Surely vodafone knew it wouldn't take long for such a simple thing to be changed.

So, as this isn't a "hack" and is so easily revertable, will we see officially sanctioned prepay/no plan data when the new rate kicks in?

I have also noted that the configurations can be removed on the Iphone with Settings.. General.. Profiles

You have to get the file to the phone somehow..

2 Methods apple give you

1 - via email (you have to have internet in the 1st place)
2 - via web browser (you have to have internet in the 1st place)

As far as I know you cannot do it via itunes. ( unless I am reading things wrong in the documentaion)

Great stuff! Just wanted to comment that i've tried this with my vodafone vodem 3g broadband sim and it works like a charm!

It also seems that the vodem broadband sim has its own phone number, haven't tried it yet, but perhaps should even be able to make or receive calls. (Probably extremely expensive).

Keep up the good work!

I have added a custom APN generator. It is not tested yet.. but in theory should download and ask for the custom APN's username/password

Let me know if it works.

You can also setup a webserver on your LAN (or run the Apple Configuration utility - which uses Ruby on Rails and starts up a local webserver on :3000) and browse from Safari to that over WiFi

what is the reson for a custom APN generator? I am going overseas to Australia in a couple of days on a trip any idea if i can chnage the apn to australian vodafone and hopefully just pay their rates rather than roaming rates... what do you think?

PS anyone got any idea of what the correct APN for vodafone Australia would actually be... or won t it work even if i put the correct info in?

As some corporate customers have custom APN's/usernames/password. yes they can download the config maker themselves...

Vodem / VMC should indeed have their own mobile number (billing...), from the top of my mind, but I could be wrong I think voice rates, if not barred are $0.79c / minute, with no TXT cap or included benefits.

PS: Congrats guys on this!
