Was starting to get a little FOMO, but after the reveal I am still very content with my decision to go Samsung S10+
Will see what happens next year I guess!
Surprised they kept the XR, as normally they remove the previous model if they are very similar and might cannibalise sales of new models. eg the apple watch series 4 vs series 5, and The XS model, vs the 11 Pro models, the previous gen models have been removed. I can see a lot of people just buying the XR, eve though it does lack some of the new camera features which look impressive, and there is also likely a years less ios support..They seem to have dropped the prices in the US of the 11 a bit more than in NZ. Guess we are paying more due to the NZ dollar which continues to weaken. 2020 is really the big year for the iphone.

NZ's pricing is pretty heavily tied to the OZ price, + about 10% ( ~5% currency difference, + 5% GST difference)
I thing I have grabbed is the new wallpaper though goes well with my phone and case I have on it.

PhantomNVD: I see this like the ipad3Retina launch... stopgap method to get the annual fanboi money with not much difference on last years offering.
Time for me to upgrade my 7+ but only for an XS from last year (at half the price of last year’s release)
Where can you get it for half price? The XS is a nice phone, and is why I suspect they no longer sell it new as it competes too strongly with the 11 pro.

@riggleby yeah the only refresh i skipped was the 8, I jumped from a 7+ to X to XS Max.
Then you didn't skip a year. The 8 and the X was released the same year.

I think we've definitely reached the "a phone's a phone" stage.
Who cares anymore?
A crusty old iPhone 7 or one of a myriad of $400 Android phones is probably good enough for most people.
The sales slide will no doubt continue until there's a fresh design with 5G when they'll get a bump.
And then they'll be in the do-do again when everyone keeps that whizzy 5G iPhone for 4 years.
Kopkiwi:
That near $3k price is absolutely friggen disgusting.
What's worse is that they know that. Hence, the marketing is now:
It doesn't at all justify the ludicrous pricing. You could buy an older car for the prices that they are charging.
The iphone 5s in the USA I understand was priced from $650 US at launch. While the new iphone 11 starts at $699, and it has far more tech in it, and they did drop the price. Also when taking into account inflation, and that the iphone 5s was also quite far behind the competition in terms of features, screen size etc I don't think the iphone 11 is too badly pricied. The problem is the weak NZ dollar, but that is NZs problem. The thign is that apple have now gone to this pro model system, which is what they have done with ipads, so if you want the cutting edge of what they offer, then you do pay more for that. Whereas previously the main model had a lot of that tech in it. But the iphone 11 is still good, just the screen isn't the best it could be. Still probably the best LCD screen you can find on a phone though. But IMO the pro should have had 120Hz sceren, wireless inphone charging for airpods, and perhaps pencil support. But supect some of that will be next year.
I have never purchased a brand new latest model iphone, I always buy an older model , as I couldn't justify spending that amount on something with a small display,. I would only do this with ipads, because IMO they offer far better value for me.
