You will have to add the international code to the start of all your contacts numbers. +64 is the New Zealand code. Leave out the 0 at the start of mobile numbers, so +6421(then rest of number) or +6427(then rest of number).

Has anyone got MMS working with a 2G phone using fw 3 ?

Curious - used to work well with Swirly back on 1.1.4 ....

V3 on the Original iPhone doesn't include MMS. You will have to jailbreak and install SwirlyMMS

jb'd already.
Heh - just seems that the fields aren't added into the Network Settings for the 2G ... if they were then it should work.

But you're prolly right - back to Swirly.
Silly tho' ... imnsho

Just noticed an new release in Cydia that unlocks MMS on 1st gen iPhones!

I installed ActivateMMS2G from the iSpazio repo and nothing happened :(

Found this thread via Google and manually rebooted with the suggested settings.

Just sent my first PXT from my 2G iPhone with the Firmware 3.0 MMS functionality :)

Very happy indeed since SwirlyMMS and SwirlyMMS2 do not supprt 3.0.

YAY!

Yup DrDee - me too. I wasn't really relishing the thought of going back to Swirly.

I had to jump through the hoops tho'...

Tried the APN changer from unlockit - wouldn't work for me.

I then found the thread here with the modded vodafone ipcc.

So ssh'd that on to the phone. Still wouldn't work.

Then deleted the apn with the APN app from unlockit on the phone.

Rebooted - So now it was using the modded one I ssh'd

n I haz [success]

Haven't got the tether option - but I don't care about that anyway.

hey man, just tried the ActivateMMS2G thing too, and downloaded the IPCC file version 4.1 - updated that successfully. that opened up a few new settings and populated them too. unfortunately it had the APN for MMS set to www.vodafone.net.nz and that doesn't work. So I manually changed it to live.vodafone.com and that doesn't retain it's settings.

what are your settings and what steps did you take to make this work for you?

Hey evader - do you still have the APN app on your phone ? If you do then go to the remove screen and delete it.

ssh this file to your phone. reboot and you should be good.
http://www.unlockit.co.nz/IPCC/Vodafone_nz.NEW.ipcc copy and paste that into safari's dl manager or some other dl manager.

check your mms settings they were already populated for me - they should be the same as in the first post here.

hope that helps

You need to ssh the file to

/private/var/mobile/Library/CarrierBundle

thanks a ton for that! although all i had to do was remove the APN app and restart...and checked the APN for MMS then - it was live.vodafone.com (it has been saved for once).

so tried to send a couple of MMS messages - works fine! :)

not sure how i got there in the end - but it works!

What I cannot understand is why Apple decided not to activate MMS on the 2G when it obviously works fine?

A way to force people to upgrade maybe?
