So a $50 price decrease for the iPhone 6 vs original iPhone 5S prices plus double capacity for mid and high level prices. Nice.

Missed that! So much for the $100 premium for the 4,7inch

I actually couldn't be happier with how they have done it!

The 128GB is tempting but I don't think I need that much storage.

Disappointing day for Apple.

The best thing about it was the free U2 album.

Why are they not having the iphone 6 in 4" form factor?    These larger phones are not so pocket friendly.

In my view the apple product line became worse for the first time since the original ipod.

I was looking for the "wait there's one more thing" moment but it never came.

Where was the stuff around home automation?

Todays announcement proves smart phones have matured.

Finally a "man" phone...

6+ will sell by the intermodal container load I reckon.

Available 26th September!! I think I will be jumping on the 4.7' version (the regular iPhone 6). I am very happy with the drop in price as well. That is very good news for us kiwis!

I reckon the 4.7inch is the sweetspot - only thing that gutted me was that it wasnt full HD. I dont know what the experience will be like going from the HTC to iPhone 6. Would be good to find out.

So two things have kept me in the android camp for the last three years.  I switched after Apple told me I couldn't use my 3GS as a hotspot, which I'd been doing via jb for 18 months :)

1)  Screen was too small.  I went Galaxy S2 then S4 and going back to using friend's iPhones was frustrating.  The 5.5 (and 4.7 to some degree) will fix this.

2)  No options around how I input text.  After being a swipe user, going back to a hunt-and-peck approach with no prediction was horrible and slow. iOS 8 with the ability to add keyboards should fix this.

The lack of customisation and other tweaking in android has become less important to me as time goes on and my phone becomes more of a tool than a plaything so I think a 6+ could be on the horizon assuming it fits in the hand OK.  I'd like to to be slightly thicker and have better battery life but that's not Apple's ethos.

Anyway, my 2¢ worth :)

didn't they announce the apple watch as the one more thing? you might not like the products announced, but as an android guy, i think apple had a fantastic event.

I had planned on buying mine in Canada: I'm going for the 6+ 64GB version. With tax in Canada it works out to NZD1215--not much savings over the NZD1299 price. So I think I'll just buy mine here. No chance of getting dinged for duty and no issues with Applecare coverage.

What happened with the Sapphire screen?

The iPhone 6 hasn't wowed me. Not a fan of the design, specifically the rounded edges and big bezels. I prefer the square edges of the 5/5S. I'll wait to see how the Nexus 6 turns out.

Sapphire glass is more scratch resitant - thats true - but its actually more brittle.
I had a look on youtube at some tests that they did on Gorilla glass v Sapphire glass. It was quite surprising how well Gorilla glass could flex compared to Sapphire. So while it would mean a Gorilla glass screen would be very hard to scratch - its potentially no better in a drop test - possibly worse.
