hey nzbullet.... fantastic work by sounds of things.... but couple of questions...
1. if you now have 8.2 itunes... what do you do??
2. do you think you could separate the file so that one that contains everything but roaming..
3. if you do install the file as you have it now... and intend to travel but use the local sims there... the whole roaming problem wont be an issue..correct???

thanks

Hey,

1. You have to be jailbroken or go back to 8.1.1

2. Not sure why you would want to. It makes no difference to how it works here

3. If you use local sims to the country you have travelled i.e an O2 UK Sim in the UK then it won't make any difference anyway, correct

Cheers

ah thanks for that...
well just thought maybe... by excluding the roaming part... it may not interfare with roaming via telecom unless you buy or use local sim... just a thought....

I am not getting the Tethering option at the moment. I am trying to figure out why, but think it has something to do with the type masks.

Once I have sorted Tethering I will let you know.

There was one made a while back before the 3G iPhone came out when piksel and I had kiwi-ise.co.nz. Piksel created it, but, along with the site, that file is gone

The issue is that Telecom SIM's have two network identifiers in them whereas most other SIM 's only have one.

When a customer goes roaming depending on the commercial agreements in place either the primary or secondary network identifier is used to connect to foreign networks. The issue with the iPhone is that when it detects the SIM has swapped to the secondary identifier it will change the APN settings. The carrier file needs to be changed to ensure this does not happen as there will be no data connectivity without the correct Telecom APN.

I have updated the file so that it contains both network identifiers which *should* prevent this from happening, however as Telecom do not support the iPhone they will not support these files. I can also not garuntee it will work because I am not in the UK to test.

ok, so from what you are saying, the sim roaming will still work, but basically I might have to manually update the APN settings to get data connectivity ? (eg/ put direct.telecom.co.nz into the APN),

I recieved this information from Telecom so I cannot be certain. I do believe so, however the changes I have made *should* stop you from needing to do that.

The file you have downloaded should be called 'Telecom_nz.ipcc' - Correct?

Does the 'XT' text version work?

Are you sure you are on 8.1.1?

Yes it is - but it is a zip file. When that is unzipped it contains a folder 'Payload' and in that folder the lego cube type icon Telecom_nz.bundle. It is this final bundle file that cannot be selected in 8.1.1 on my Mac. I am certain about the version of iTunes. Also the non-logo version worked fine as your instructions via the files on the unlockit.co.nz website. Thanks so much for your help.
