I'm now getting the odd bit of stuttering in games where there is a heavy graphic content (particularly ones that have been updated for iOS4).

Wondering if they should have clocked the CPU as a part of the update to allow for more grunt.

Hey guys,

I updated my iPhone 3GS with version 4 over the weekend. Some bad news in terms of browsing on Safari.

Usually you should see a screenshot of what you saw last time you went to a particular page. Now all the pages in Safari appear to be blank and it's always forcing the browser to refresh the screen everytime you go into it.

Quick question

I have a 3gs, i got the update, installed it all fine and dandy, but my friend running a 3g installed the update and it is INCREDIBLY slow. we were trying to change his lock screen image, (going into safari, saving the picture, exiting safari, going into images and setting it) and it honestly took more than 4 minutes .. something i can do on 3gs in about 25 seconds (depending on internet speed)

Any one have any recommendations as to what my friend can do?

Did Your friend install the right firmware version as if he did not install the iPhone 3G firmware it could cause issues. Also try a clean install of the iOS 4 and then set everything up from scratch rather than restoring from backup as this has caused many issues with iOS 4.

Few things to add:

I understood cold was good for a battery hence the hip cases (apparently your pocket is too warm).

Most annoying thing about the MTing is exiting an app that was in a folder and still having that folder open on the home screen.

I understand that the phones will now hold a wifi connection while locked, so that means push mail etc is on wifi which is a good thing (haven't tested this myself).

From the Roughly Drafted Blog apparently a hard reset on your iphone 3g might help with the stuttering. I didn't realise that holding down the power button is the equivalent of "hibernate" where the running image is saved to disk and then restored (note the difference in time taken to boot from the home/lock combo reset).

Background audio on radiostreaming is great, but why don't they slim there their apps down and remove the browser that they have all put in when you couldn't background (so you could MT in the app).

I suppose the best thing from my perspective has been that this was FREE (as in beer) for my 3GS.

By the by has anyone tried CardStar for the iphone, have put in a few bar codes but yet to try it out. Apparently you need an optical scanner not a IR one.

@tomgeeknz I believe he's done everything as it should've, but then again i'm not 100% sure. He just went into itunes, plugged in his phone, and downloaded, and installed the update, (he's pretty savvy when it comes to apple stuff) but we're both stumped as to why its just got so slow, but i'll let my mate know of trying a clean install fingers crossed it'll do the trick
