shadybrothers: Is the current iPad hindered at all by its "lack of ram"?
What can't you do that you should be able to do due to the ram limitations?
Buttonmash: Absolutely nothing. The only potential downside is around multitasking when iOS 4.x is released on iPad.Just jailbreak your ipad and true multitask now. Doesn't slow it down at all so Apples multi switching would be even easier on the unit
shaneblyth: A new use we found for it last night was looking up recipes in the kitchen . takes up little room and there are some nice recipe apps or free. VEry handy and convenient.

Definitely recommend Epicurious. Very cool.
shaneblyth:
cheers ill check it out I have been using big oven mainly cause it is free.
khull: remote desktop/VNC on the ipad is amazing.
this is a slap in the face!
stuzzo: The iOS4 upgrade for the iPad should be about November according to the heavys on Apple's Forums.
This should give background services like Skype call notifications the same as you can get on the iPhone 4.0 at the moment.
You'd think a thread like this would be started by someone who had bought one or tried it and was disappointed.
shadybrothers: So it seems that the RAM is a non-issue - even with jailbroken multitasking, and that people wanting "oodles of HDD space, Ram and USB ports, an optical drive" they should be looking at a desktop :)
I find optical drives obsolete these days ;) opted out of including one in my latest build.

chiefie: @jofizz and @stuzzo, from all the postings by the OP (@michaelmurfy) that I have seen, there seem to be traces of pro-Linux and pro-OSS feel. In fear of being called for calling anyone name, but he does exhibit borderline Linux-zealot behaviour in many posts...
That's my observation. I do wonder his validity as it doesn't look like he had even give the device a go to give an informed opinion, but merely just drawing "conclusion" from a distance hear-say without true experience with the device.
