Thanks for the great work nzbullet, +1 internets for you kind sir?

I seem to have struck a bug in 3.0b5 after using the xt carrier file, I'm wondering if it's affecting other os versions/users. Everything works correctly, except; when i create a SMS mesage with multiple recipients it automatically changes to a MMS. The result is that a) you pay for it (as opposed to being substracted from my txt 600 allowance) and b) recipients with older, non mms capable, mobiles receive an error message. Oddly the caller ID on that message is 111. As you can imagine, some hilarity occurred when I did a bulk text to inform my contacts of my new number and some thought emergency services were trying to contact them.

Hey consolation,

Thnak You.

This is nothing to do with the XT Carrier file. It is firmware 3.0. Some are saying it is a bug/glitch, but whenever you send an SMS to multiple recipients, in 3.0 beta 5, it sends them as an MMS.

To solve the issue on your iPhone you have to go into Settings --->  Messages ---> MMS Messaging and switch it to 'off'

Then when you send the message it will send it as an SMS.

As to why it sent it from 111 is anyones guess. I tried it this morning from mine and it was sent as an MMS and recieved as being from me.

Hopefully Apple will resolve this in the actual release otherwise if you send multiple SMS regularly it will be a pain everytime you want to do that to have to remember to switch MMS off.

Cheers

Dan

Thanks nzbullet, tbh I suspected as much.
Zalman, there's plenty of people who will add you to their developer account, look at the thread on Hackint0sh.

PS. If you want to see the funky error txt, you need to send it to a non pxt capable phone. Pretty hard to find nowadays, elderly relatives are your best bet - they love getting mystery txts from 111...

Nice job nzbullet,
Do you have any options for people that are on OS 3.0 beta 5?
Is it possible to update the carrier settings you published with "iPhone Configuration Utility"?

Do you still have iTunes 8.2 beta 5? If so then you can just use that. If not then you will need to get a copy of it and downgrade your iTunes to it so you can do the update.
(or jailbreak and do it manually)

Unfortunately I have installed iTunes 8.2 b10(13), do you know where I can get b5?

I have had some luck with ICU and managed to get the tethering operational. I am working blind though, it is a bit hit and miss just editing the XML with your settings.

You cannot as far as I know do it with the Iphine configuration utility as of yet (as thats why I have been trying to do with unlockit.co.nz). I am 99% sure I have the config correct but alas it does not work (yet).

when V3 is officially released I am pretty sure it will work but as MMS and tethering is disabled by default you cannot turn them "on" with the config file.. just change their settings.
