I am really put out at the act that none of my iphone 4 precision fit bumpers or cases work in my 4S.

Left side buttons just don't quite line up. What a waste of money, they were!!!

Just got my 4S an hour ago (yay!) and I have a question about the Weather app of all things. If I leave it on "local weather" then it returns "unknown location". If I go into "i" and search for Whakatane, then it returns no results. On the other hand, if I go to Yahoo's website (it says Powered by Yahoo) then I can pull up the Whakatane weather.

I used to be able to get Whakatane on my old iPod (iOS 3.1) but I haven't tried it for a year or so. Is anyone else able to replicate this issue?

My Apple stock Weather app has 6 locations in it. Its last used on ChCh. If I go to it, its on ChCh. If I drop down the Notifications, its shows ChCh. I have Location Services off.

Maybe, as you may not have "added" any towns into the Weather app it goes by what Location Services shows as your current town and if that is off, you get no results?

Just don't ask Siri for weather in Whakatane or you'll get your wrists slapped for swearing ;-)

I have noticed before though that the weather app doesn't pull up everywhere. I'm guessing it uses place names and doesn't search by location position to give you the nearest location, and for some reason Whakatane isn't in the database the iPhone uses.

I'm surprised it hasn't been noted before but I guess the user will pick their own location for the weather based on their own knowledge of places close but the 'local weather' feature in iOS 5 highlights this as its trying to pick the best location for you. Definitely worth filing a report on as without it would probably never get added.

Whats the GPS performance like compared to the iphone 4? A few reviews have said its faster and more accurate because of the dual gps system used (US and Russian)

3G signal/Data speeds improved?

I haven't noticed any difference to be honest -the only thing that I see that has noticeably improved is the capacity and the still camera.

I'll have to have a really good play with the GPS to see...

It uses Major Cities - I think provincial towns and cities are excluded by virtue of apple not seeing them as important.
Being from Auckland it doesn't affect me at all. I will check next time I'm in Queenstown...

I'm in Welly so doesn't affect me either. But if you input a city manually in the weather app you just compensate by choosing somewhere close if it doesn't have your actual location, but its a bit frustrating when it doesn't do it using location services. I'm guessing it also means the weather ticker in notifications won't display anything either as that shows the 'local' weather.

ok, back to the Yellow saga, sorry people.

Well there is no saga, firstly thanks Telecom, good service no complaints there, given logic when replacement would arrive as they said it would.

Replacement iPhone just turned up due the yellow screen, and no not WARMER, yellow.

Very happy, the screen is slightly different than my iPhone 4,you can call it warmer or whatever, but its fine, perfect in fact, and i managed to dictate all of this perfectly with Siri. ( actually thats bull, it got confused with my hybrid accent) and i like the guy voice on the uk settings, he is the weakest link after all, its best when you are text emoticons and he reads them out. "smiley face"

Regarding Siri, I just left it on the default (UK) and it's understood everything I've said. It also understood all my coworkers until one of them asked "where's the nearest KFC bro?"
