$950 plan rebate, so would I spend $499 for a phone? Hell yes.

I can likely sell my Iphone5 64gb for nearly that, or I can hand it down and get a couple of hundy for my Iphone4 32GB.

Either way that means outlaying $300 at worst. Personally I don't think I need a 128GB so drop that to $1299 so at worst I am going to outlay $150 for a new phone. Got to love Apple resale values!

I'll do the lazy thing and trade my iPhone 5S as well through the carrier -$1449 may sound like a lot but I use it for work sending emails, messaging, calendaring, contacts, typing up reports for my boss on the go then there is the music from my 200GB collection I choose from to listen to on the go. If you're using the iPhone/iOS fully then it certain is value for money at least in my experience. Oh well, waiting for that contract to finish with Spark before I decide whether to go for Vodafone or Spark - many focused around a better 4G experience.

ARGH no way!! thats such a bummer! i thought apple were good with their warranty and it would be international. well that sucks then.. thanks for the headsup! i guess i will pick it up on duty free on the way out of NZ on one of my trips! at least get 15% off the price (I am traveling in december so it should be readily available by then!)

They said (and I asked him to check the info, to be sure) that the international replacement only is valid in countries that have an apple retail store.
If not, its phone support / online support, and valid for the country of purchase.

Although they are available for preorder on the 26th, I can almost promise you will see a 3-4 delivery time.
I assume this is to let the Telco's sell contract only phones.
Usually the delivery of ordered iphones coincides with the telcos selling them outright

So at worst Im looking at a October mid month delivery.

Not too bad I suppose

What happens if you buy Apple Care for it?

This is all correct, no international warranty with the iphone, even with apple recalls you have to take it back to the orginal country for repairs

I also looked into apple care and it's the same story

Rappelle: Can someone explain to me the hype still surrounding this phone after it's announcement? It has a pitiful battery and is darn right ugly. At least the 5S looks good!

The 6 has better battery life performing many of the same tasks as the 5S and the 6 Plus has significantly better battery life, in some uses double that of the 5S. A quick google will show you the comparisons.

Personally I think the new ones are gorgeous but no ones asking you to ditch your 5S.

It took me a while to get my head around Apple's "Bigger than Bigger" advertising slogan, but it is very clever. More to it than just a larger screen.

Having said that the following comparison made me smile. Amazing what you can show when you are selective with specs/features.

Indeed, you can make anything look better or worse by being selective (I remember there was a Yes Minister where Humphrey proved that Bernard was simultaneously for and against conscription by phrasing the questions differently).

I was looking at the N4 when it first came out but recall that it was hamstrung by a very limited amount of storage. The new 6, with a 128 GB option, is definitely not in the same category there!

LOL, good article. Whats with the 6S next year getting 1080p? The 6 Plus is 1080p. Or best to avoid the 6 Plus to make a point??

Some phones need Quad and Octa core and higher mA battery to power the not that optimised OS, whereas Apple has a custom SoC thats built for the one phone and one OS. Bad car analogy but a V4 2.4 Ferrari is faster than a V8 5.0 Holden

I guess if they were going to include the 6+ they would have needed to compare it with last year's Note 3.
Software analogy fits with laptops and desktops as well where it can be optimized when it only has to contend with one set of hardware.

i know but a nexus 5 is $1000 less for much the same phone, You have to love Apple marketing .

Yep i love Apple marketing and also resale value i should be able to get around $800 for my current iPhone so it is really a win win situation for me.

I have seen a comparison between an iPhone and a brick showing the only difference being the iPhone has a touch screen.

You can certainly make anything look better or worse by choosing characteristics to compare!

Behodar: Depends on what the features are, when they're released, how much they cost, etc. If the rumours are true then I'll be getting the 4.7 because I want a 4G phone ASAP and apparently the 5.5 is further off.

Phone calls, messages, emails, reminders, etc. It's an extension of the iPhone so if your iPhone is a business expense I can't see why you'd have trouble saying your smart watch is too. It's as much a useful business productivity tool as a smart phone is.

Might even be able to get a Sport or a nice strap for under the $500 ex-GST depreciation threshold :)
