88325: Or are apple sending them out straight away now if you order through them?

Apple's online store page for the iPhone 5 is still saying new orders will ship in 3-4 weeks, no change since launch day. That means they are still shipping them as fast as they can make them, but have a backlog of almost a month. Once the estimated shipping time starts to fall, that means the backlog is improving. If it gets down to "1-2 business days", that means the iPhone 5 is in stock in the Sydney warehouse and they expect to be able to ship new orders quickly.

Just received my iPhone 5 case

Very slick. I have an iPhone 5 dummy and the fit of the case is excellent.

I hope some better iPhone cases come out soon. I got a cheap $20 leather one (probably not real leather I suspect), but was worried about the magnetic flap thing used to close it, so I dug the magnets out.

I use http://www.ikonicedge.com/

Had one for the iphone 4/4S and now got a iphone 5 one. Luxury soft leather pouch...more they wear the better they look.

Hmm, looks very well made and tasteful, but I think I prefer the flip leather cases, rather than a pouch that you have to slide the phone out of each time you use it. My last case was a Belkin flip (photo), and it lasted for 4 years. Looking for something similar, I think.

Just got my sena ultraslim delivered today.  No iphone to fit in it yet :-( but build quality is excellent.  Fedex express courier is only $9 from them and it arrived in 3 days!

PS they do flip cases as well.

Thanks!

Some of those look really good, too, but I'm worried about magnetic closing systems? Not that I know if I should be worried or not.

Nice
I use a Case Mate Tough, very similar to the Griffin I had on the 4S. Black, lip on the front to stop glass contact if upside down, rubber on the edge, and a back. The Case Mate edges are harder rubber, not soft grippy rubber which I prefer. Nice fit though, will do for now

Has anybody had any experience with Spigen cases? I had my eye on this one as it will keep the iPhone 5's aesthetics

I got a Speck Candyshell, which is a glossy hard case with a TPU rubber liner. It has a raised edge to prevent the screen touching the table when placed face down. It adds a little extra bulk and weight, but with a 5 year old in the house I'd rather be safe than sorry. Love the case. Bought it from the Speck website. The only downside is that it prevents me from using my lightning to 30-pin adapter, but that'll come in handy for future items, like the next iPad.

dempson:Odd that yours hasn't shipped yet: I ordered mine at 1:26 AM on launch day, my brother and two friends ordered around 8 to 9 AM, and all four are being delivered in the same batch (currently in Hong Kong, should arrive 29th if no delays). Two of us had the same ETA as you, one was 26th to 1st.

It appears that normal delivery time from China to main centres in New Zealand is four business days, but some in Auckland might get lucky with three day delivery. For yours to arrive by the end of the original estimate (2nd) it would have to ship by the 29th (next Monday).

The pattern for mine was "Preparing for Shipping" around 4 PM (NZ time), "Shipping" about midnight same day. The TNT tracking page was able to report status about two or three hours later (it was a late night, for other reasons).

Yeah thought that might be the case, thanks for that. Quite annoying seeing as I could have bought one from Dick Smith now. But I'll just keep waiting. Surely it won't be late.

What model did you order? I ordered 32gb black.

I bought the Cygnett Bulldozer in orange from Harvey Norman, they had their labour day sale on at the time and got 10 bucks off the price. Also since I am working on construction sites a bit at the moment it goes nicely with my high vis vest haha.

I wonder if I'm the only person that still hasn't seen their order status change on apple's. (and I ordered within 3 hours of the the store opening).

Wahhhhh.

I feel better now.

Mine and those of my two friends are 64 GB black, my brother's is 64 GB white. I haven't seen others who have iPhones in this batch mentioning capacity: until more evidence shows up, it is possible that Apple might be doing separate shipments for each capacity, and the 32 GB shipment including your one hasn't finished being assembled yet.

I have the TNT tracking pages for mine, one friend and my brother, and up to the point they reached Hong Kong, the times of each status change have been within a few seconds. One difference is that when they left Hong Kong, my brother's white one went to "Shipment in transit" about 10 minutes earlier than the black ones (around 10 PM NZ time on Thursday). I suspect the white and black ones are on different pallets, the white one happened to be processed first, and the black one was processed after a short delay.

Another friend of a friend with a white 16 GB model was a day ahead of ours so that one should arrive in Wellington and be delivered today. It reached Auckland around noon Thursday, after departing Hong Kong about 4 pm HK time (9 pm NZ time). Given the 15 hour transit time, I expect it went via Sydney but the package wasn't scanned by TNT at another transit point so there is no evidence which route it took.

If the timing is similar, and assuming the arrival in Auckland is based on scheduled flight times, the batch including mine should be in Auckland around noon today, and it is possible that some people in Auckland for this batch might get their iPhone today. if TNT is doing Saturday deliveries, that may be possible for other main centres (mine and my brother's are going to business addresses and our offices will be closed, so we won't get ours then, but my friends might). Monday delivery is more likely for most of the country, possibly Tuesday if there is too much for TNT to deliver in one day, or further away from the main centres.

I ordered this case (the Snow Series Satin Silver one) off Amazon. Should be here hopefully in the second week of November. Will post on this thread with my impressions!
