joker97: "accidentally threw"?Yep. With arms full of grocery I tried to throw any empty coke can down into our courtyard to free up space for carrying another bag, but even though I only lifted the single finger that was holding the can, there was a bit too much momentum and not enough grip on my phone in the same hand. I'm sure I went instantly white. There is not even the smallest nick on the phone. Thankfully the glass of the screen didn't enounter anything. If it the screen had contacted with a small stone or something then it would have been a goner.

MOBIT: Hi I am using iphone 5 on vodafone, some time data connection drop but still main screen is showing 3g in bar.
It was working fine before with my micro sim card (cut it for iphone 5). But 2 days before i get new nano sim card from vodafone and now having this problem time by time.
If i reset the networking setting then data is working fine for a while (2-3hrs) and then it stop working.
Today I called 777 and told there is no issue with new nano sim card and i need to check 3g network. I am in Auckland CBD and 3g signal strength is perfect.
Can anyone please help me for that?
mrWest: Hi Guys,
Long time forum lurker, first time poster.
Anyway, just thought I'd chip in on the "Excellent service" that everyone has been raving about from Telecom.
I purchased the iPhone 5 from Telecom on the Open 29 plan on the 19th October, in store the sales person told me that scratches had turned up on a few of the iPhone 5 handsets, on the side of the frame, so she opened the box and looked there and didn't see any issues. So far so good. So paid for the phone, took it home, started using it, didn't peel off the front or the back pieces of plastic. Flew out the next morning to Singapore (I fly quite a lot for work), didn't think to peel of the plastic then either, thought I could buy some protectors for cheap in Singapore. Anyway, when I landed there peeled off the plastic after buying some $5 protector and noticed scratches and chips along the chamfered edge, I couldn't actually see this while Apple's protective packaging was still on. At this point I remembered reading on Geekzone that someone had a similar issue and Telecom replaced their device when they returned to the store and complained, so I didn't worry too much.
Came back to NZ on 29th, went to Telecom on the 30th, and this is what the guy quite literally said:
"The moment you leave the store, we can't offer replacements, if you want we can send away your device and get it inspected, and if its deemed to be damaged then we can replace it." I complained and said that a lot of people on Geekzone, and the internet in general, had talked about going back to the store and getting the device replaced especially when it was scratched right out of the box, to which he replied "Geekzone are full of BS, sometimes they say stuff that isn't actually true". No f*cking joke. I asked him directly if he was calling geekzone posters out, to which he replied, "yeah, sometimes they exaggerate". So far not so good. So, moving on from this I asked him what we could do to fix this as I fly quite often for work and don't have the time or the patience to waste on an "investigation". According to him: nothing else. Further, the replacement phone I would get, if I were to send my iPhone to Telelogistics, would be a Nokia dumbphone.......
Seriously??!
I showed him two other "issues" with my phone, the keyboard flickering when I log into the App Store, and the screen brightness going spastic every now and then. Still no reaction. I gave up and walked out of the store.
I have purchased 2 iPhone 4Ss from Telecom, and an iPhone 5, all outright, I've been a loyal Telecom customer for a long time, and I am frankly pissed off at how this has gone down. 11 days, that's how old my iPhone was, and I was out of the country for 9 of those, yet somehow I'm not entitled to a device swap. I know so many people worldwide who've simply walked into Apple stores or their network stores and replaced iPhones no questions asked, especially with "Scuff gate". Yet I get treated like someone looking to game the system?? If there are any Telecom reps on Geekzone, I would love to have a chat about this.
The "excellent service" I received was from the Sylvia Park Telecom store.
FYI - there are close to 90 pages in this thread, and I cannot be bothered sifting through them to find the posts that reference people swapping their devices, I do remember reading it in this thread though.
Comments or general feedback would be appreciated. I plan to email Telecom head office, return my iPhone and be done with this crap. Will buy the iPhone 5 from Apple.co.nz. Can't believe I even paid extra for the $29 Open plan just to get it ahead of the online apple store, guess it shows me.
sub: lol - this morning I accidentally threw my new (uninsured) iPhone 5 down a two floor drop onto concrete. It was one of those slow motion events. I watched it fly through the and smash down on its screen.
It must be my lucky day...I had it in an Incase Slider case, which has a front lip that extends past the front of the screen. It not only survived the fall, but I cant see a single mark on the phone itself. The front lip of the case has a scuff on 3 corners.
mrkgoo:That's too bad. Have you tried just calling apple? They have a warranty period, they might deal with it, although it takes a while due to posting.
I've always had good reasonable service from apple.
