I was one of the people that had good customer service from Telecom. Phone had a loud rattle, took it in, Telecom rep called up Apple and they did a swap for me. Less than a week later a notice a dead pixel..... I think to myself they will just swap it again. Walk in last Friday and tell them the new problem and they say they will not swap it, and it will have to get sent away. I was due to fly to Aussie the next day so I walk out pretty annoyed at the inconsistencies between two different sales people.

I popped into the Apple store in Aussie yesterday and have got a genius appointment this afternoon where I am hoping they will give me a new phone.

myopinion: An update has already been released, iOS6.01. For iPhone 5 owners a pre-update install is required to get it.

Going to wait and see if I need to stay on iOS 6 in order to jailbreak in the (hopefully near) future before I update!

rainet: Man, that really sucks. One of the reasons I patiently waited and purchased mine from Apple's online store was avoiding a situation like that (assuming I would be looked after better by Apple directly, and it seems two people in this thread are in that boat right now - one has a replacement on the way for dead pixels).

I suggest you approach the store manager about it, but do some research on the consumer guarantee act first - unfortunately, from memory they are only obligated to repair under a "reasonable" time frame.

Failing that, I would definitely contact Apple's customer service via phone. Their open hours are fairly good, I think until at least 8pm our time. You will be put through to Australia by using the 0800 number.

Seems like the best thing to do would be to buy it in store, get them to open in up and then you check it in meticulous detail whilst you are standing there for scratches, scuffs etc. That way they (the store staff) know that any damage was nothing to do with you.

Buying from online you have no way to prove that any damage wasn’t there when you opened it up unless you actually video yourself doing it.

Supposedly. *shrugs*

They said they'd send one out in 2-5 days, maybe that's what they meant. I called up an supposedly one will be delivered from china next week, but my email says 4 weeks. Apparently I didn't get a second email. I guess I'll see next week.

Did you get a shipment notice?

Just had my iPhone with the dead pixel replaced at an Apple store in Aussie. Was in and out in 10 mins. We need some of these stores in NZ!

Ah, I see. I never got a shipment notice. :(

I called them up and apparently it's being processed.

The email I got sent is just a dispatch saying it will arrive at end of November.

My order just changed to preparing for shipment! Yay. How long does it take before it changes to shipped?

Hello I am new here but have been watching this thread since ordering my new iphone 5 from apple, I ended up buying from telecom on Labour Day Monday and have been very happy with it apart from a couple of times the sound has stopped working, I try the mute switch and volume buttons but have to do a hard reset to get the sound back, but this doesn't work all the time either. I rung apple and they were very helpfull and are willing to replace it with a new one but I have had to restore the phone as a new phone with no apps or details in it to see if that fixes the problem, it is working okay at the moment. Has anybody else heard of this issue?
