Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you.

What are you looking for?  I have 4 Supermicro servers, all 1/2 depth 1U with Xeon 3110 (I think) 4GB RAM (one has 8GB), all with rails plus 2 spare power supplies.  All I have IPMI boards, dual Gigabit, and I even have one original box, plus one has an Intel 32GB SSD in it.

Interested?

I have been thinking of letting these go and moving back to 'consumer' hardware.

Where are you?  I am in Auckland.

@timbosan : can you take photo's ? Sounds interesting. Was looking at Supermicro the other day.  - i am based in Auckland, Flat Bush

@inphinity : Have no idea about the specs yet, currently on a tight budget for server hardware so just going to have to make things work. Please take photo's of the hardware when you find it today.

Outline :
- Domain Controller
- File sever
- Exchange server
- Webserver

I have an old Dell Poweredge 750 that you can have for $50. I'm not sure of the specs (haven't turned it on for a while), but it's at least 6-7 years old.

We buy most of our servers from Mikipro. Seems to be good prices for 2nd hand servers.

graysonline.co.nz is good for this stuff too.

You often see a lot which is clearly a failed small business:

1-3 rack mount or stand-up low-mid range servers
desktops
monitors
photocopier

Consumer stuff (laptops and desktops) don't tend to go too cheap these days, but servers are usually decently priced.

Not sure if its worth considering power consumption on older servers compared to the price of a new server + interest + depreciation. E.g. if you had a 1u short depth with awesome raid card, 4x 3TB in say RAID 5 and lots of RAM you could virtualize a heap of older servers.....?

Was looking at something at Supermicro (2u) worked out to about $2500+gst. The misses doesnt feel that spending that much on a homeserver would make any sense *sigh*, plus we have to buy another house lol. Been rapping my brain around all the suppliers (hp, dell, supermicro etc ) and the pricing....prices vary big time.
This has been going on for about 2 or 3 months, getting frustrating now so willing to settle for anything.

Maybe wondering why i need a homeserver? got soooo many devices, laptops, pc's, tv's , security camera's etc etc etc etc running constantly and just need 1 server to manage it all....taking expansion into account.
