Hey guys

does anyone have an old Pentium 1 166mhz PC, to to maybe an earlier Pentium 3 or better lying around, from the Windows 95 - 98 era?

Not too fussy on the condition etc, or if it's a branded machine or not, although I'd prefer OEM.

it must have PCI ports, and have to be accommodate 2 Ethernet cards.

Located in Auckland, so will be either willing to pick up if local, or pay for shipping to get it here.

Trademe doesn't have many of these older models, so I've turned here at a last resort.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Got a socket 370 Celeron II 1ghz, mid tower. It's compaq branded but it's generic inside. 20Gb 7200RPM HDD. Got some etching in the front and some marker pen scribbles, but it works, I just need to put the heatsink back on and wipe the disk. Not sure on the RAM, either 128Mb or 512, I will check tonight if you are interested. North shore pickup.

IIRC it already has 2 x 100Mb/s 3Com network cards, 905 or similar

I should have a P4 available after this weekend that will be looking for a new home... pretty sure it works ok.... if interested, let me know and Ill check the specs on it etc. Pickup would be from Whangaparaoa, or else Ill be in Auckland City on the 4th October.

Pretty sure I have a P3-933 compaq SFF floating around you can have, you'd just need to sort out shipping from Wellington.

Agh. Fitted a heatsink (had cannibalised it for another PC) and fired it up, there was a burning smell. And it won't power on. Well it starts powering on, then powers straight off again.

Did try another PSU which I am pretty sure works... So it's either the CPU or more likely the motherboard at fault.

You are welcome to it for spares or what have you. It has 512Mb of Kingston PC133 RAM, 20 Gb drive, it's a decent case (although a bit scruffy) and CD-Rom drive, floppy drive (for a museum or what-have-you), and 2 10/100 NICs.

I'm pretty sure we have a few P3/P4/Celeron's sitting around which you're welcome to. I'm pretty sure one of them already has an additional ethernet card as it was previously used as a Gentoo based router.

I've got a set-top box with 2x NIC's, 1x ADSL2+ card and video / audio out - been used as a (branded) router for quite some time.

Just need to add either a CF card or HDD and you've got a fully functional computer w/ an AMD Eden CPU, 128MiB ram. DM me if you want some more details.
